Gotta be. That '98 Yanks squad has to be. They've got to be the best pro baseball team ever. At least in the last 50 MLB seasons (the expansion era). 125 wins. That's it. Does anymore even need to be said about it? :-) So...FUCK Sand Diego! :D
The 1927 Yanks--Murderers' Row; yeah, that was a terrific team. From what I've heard and read, anyway. Of course I wasn't there for their fuckin' games! LOL! But, they didn't have all of those playoff games.
First off, LOL @ you deleting comments like a pussy. Second off, you're a disgrace to Yankees fans. I like how you backtrack now. From saying the current Yankees suck and will be lucky to make the Wild Card to saying they need to win the World Series. You are a moron. Stop following baseball and sports altogether. You bring shame to New York fans.
This current team today looks like it is finally starting to put it together. There is no doubt that we will catch the Dead Sox, and win the division.
Once Teixtera and A-Rod start get in a groove AT THE SAME TIME, it's a wrap.
The teams of the 90s would never lose to fucking little league teams like the Nationals which is who the yankees lost to tonight. this current yankee team is softer then baby shit. they continue to lose to fucking no name scrubs day in day out. the teams in the late 90s destroyed crap, i hate this yankee team now they have been nothing but an embarrassment the last 6 years. The scary part about being a yankee fan now is the red sox are a mirror image of the late 90s teams
How the hell are they a mirror image? Did they win 3 WS in a row? Did they have arguably the best team in history? I think you need to have a little more faith in your team.
Damn. That was the worst beating I've ever seen in a World Series. Whom did San Diego beat in the NLCS? They might have given the Yanks a better fight than the Padres.
@jlthrift I don't think anyone would've matched up well with the Yankees in 1998. The Padres had the second best record in the major leagues that year. Don't forget that the 1998 yankees are the best team in the history of the mlb, so give the padres a break.
That was a great summer for me (good thing I didn't stay in lame-ass Florida--St. Augustine--the entire time!)...good times!...
24-time, 1998 World Champions!!!!!

1998 Yankees best team every. I know Seattle Mariners won more games then 1998 Yankees but the New York Yankees won World Series.

The Yankees before they started to buy their championships. I hated the yankees because they had a bunch of nobodys and still won.

@cervezero11
What year did they start to "buy" their championships? Besides the Steinbrenners actually invest in the Yankees.

Well Even though the yankees did not get Cliff Lee. I still have faith in them in 2011.

One of the greatest Yankee teams to take the field. 114-48, during the season. They will be talked about along with the 1927, and the 1961 Yankees.

@NYGiants869007 come on man your team still dominates
i'm a giants fan so i just want one world series to start with
but you guys should win over one hundred games again this year, you might not win 114 like in 1998 but still your team is still the best

They beat the Braves, who in 1996 the Yankees beat 4 games to 2 and in the following year of 1999, swept 4 games to none.
