I used to have q9450,and it was bottlenecking my single EVGA GTX 460 SE,enough that when i upgraded my cpu, ram, mobo, but kept the same video card, and in alot of my games i got almost double the fps lol.
@TheFataLProduction he already has it overclocked to 3.6 Lol... the I7 has integrated graphics that boost performance... this doesn't really prove much except integrated CPUs perform in games better because its essentially 3 GPUs.
hmm i dont get it, i also have a q6600(G0) oc'ed to 3.6 on a striker extreme 680i running with 2x gtx 280 in sli and im not getting the same fps as ur q6600 at all.Your starting at 75fps and then going up to 100. Mine starts at 46 and goes up to 66 max. Any clues?
this video is complete bullshit, he has the settings lower than he is saying he does for the i7 system because there is no way he would get 143 fps on the fixed benchmark on the settings he has posted in the description!
@ShadowM4ST yes I'm the noob that made this benchmark video and did not show the fucking settings I was using, instead I only showed the framerates. Dude these benchmarks are obviously bullshit for the i7 system, you are basically getting higher frames than a GTX 580 gets on a monster system on the exact same settings?
@ShadowM4ST uhhh duh it's in crossfire, what I'm telling you is that you are not running the game on the fucking settings you say you are running on with the i7 benchmark, the Q6600 seems about right for framerates with dual 4890's. You would not get over 60 fps more from just changing over to an i7.....you are full of shit!
@ShadowM4ST especially seeing how you have your Q6600 overclocked to 3.6 and the i7 at stock speeds, you are definitely changing the settings for the I7 system, no way in hell you would ever get 60 fps more from just changing over to a stock i7, I have an i7 aswell and I know for a fact it's no where near that much of an improvement over the Q series!
@ProjectRealityBf2 well i dont speak more for you i know what i do... and if you dont believe me its you problem... why i want to change settings ? look to graphics in this video is the same.. omg if i change the settings graphics changing too
@ShadowM4ST and another thing is you can't see what settings he is running at as he did not show the menu screen that showed his settings, the results at the end does not show what settings he is using just his score and pc specs. The guy is not legit, I have never heard of a i7 getting more than 60 fps in any game than a Q6600, especially considering the Q6600 was @ 3.6 Ghz and the I7 at stock 2.8 GHz!
@ProjectRealityBf2 you are so incredibly wrong. The Q6600 is a WEAK architecture in comparison to Nehalem/lynnfield/bloomfield/gulftown. It might be the same 45nm size, but the chip is completely different. The i7 930 has an insanely higher throughput and memory bandwidth that is able to utilize the crossfire setup almost 100%. The q6600 can barely keep up with one. The fps gain is due to proper scaling with the i7. I know because I have used a q6600, and own a i7 950, and 970.
1:45 you can clearly see that the q6600 is running at stock speeds, so is the I7. and you can also see that they're both being run at the same resolution and the same settings so quit the bitching.
@RobertAYYY wow you are fucking dumb, this benchmark does not recognize if you have your CPU overclocked, look in the description of the video, he has his PC specs posted there. It Clearly states the Q6600 is @ 3.6 GHz and the i7 at stock, I will now accept your apology.....fucking moron!
Didnt actually read the description, anyways shut your whore mouth. Did it ever struck you to mind that the older q6600 runs at a much lower FSB speed even overclocked than the stock I7? and that the i7 got 4 threads more than the older q6600 which enables more work to get done per cycle, allowing more framerates to be made, doesnt mean you will notice any difference when your under 60 fps. But you will notice the difference at 60 and above because of the extra threads.
"the i7 got 4 threads more than the older q6600 which enables more work to get done per cycle"
realy? more work per cycle??
THEY ARE LOGICAL CORES!!! SCHEDULED ON THE VERY SAME PHISICAL PIPELINE!! one instruction at the time are put on the pipeline!! i can't speak english, but at least do have an idea of what im talking about..
Triple channel DDR3 with mem controler vs dual DDR2 through FSB.. that's not fair at all when it comes to gaming..
The i7 has 8 threads. more threads the more processes can be running at the same time, as well as it would be alot faster, therefor explaining why you would get the double amount of FPS. difference between DDR2 And DDR3 ain't whats causing the 60 fps gap. you would be a moron to even belive so. cba explaining it. friggin Wikipedia CPU threads and what they do. Theres a reason to why Intel is so on about they're hyperthreading technology.
@RobertAYYY my english isn't quite good.. the graphics cards use the system memory as a cache for the textueres and other things. this is when all the core i (3,5,7) have a better performance due to memory controler, and i7 because it's triple channel.
i.e: core 2 runs at 3.2Ghz, but FSB runs at 1333Mhz, you need a memory transaction with FSB to reach the memory (outside die), and even with cores comunication u need to lower the speed to passthrough FSB.
(--> continue) if cache is available, and the data you need is in it (cache HIT), is when the other logical core can execute (meanwhile) in the same phisical pipelile. Or think in the spinlock semaphore, the process do "NOP" till it consumes it's quantum or is signaled (by interruption), meanwhile, the other logical CPU has all the pipeline to execute. here is when i lost 1 core in my q6600 doing nothing.. sorry 4 my english, i know it sucks!
I have a 4601g and had a gtx q6600 bottleneck that was giving, but now I bought a Core 2 Quad Q9550, which I am hoping to get, but my doubt is:
will be the bottleneck will disappear? Will I have more performance in games that utilize the processor enough? (2 batlefield bad company and the principal)
Yeah that's True!!!I also got a Q6600 G0 at 3,2GHZ and i see so much bottleneck with 2x GTX 260 Core 216 Cards!!!A Q9650 would be an awesome upgrade from the Q6600!!!
@ShadowM4ST The Q6600 is on my second pc mate.I replaced the two Gtx 260s with one Asus 5870 V2 and now everything is great.I don't see that much bottleneck and i have found a cheap Q9550 for 120 Euros plus 1,5 year warranty left,so i will sell the Q6600 for 80 Euros and take this.I will also replace the Amd 1090t with a new Bulldozer chip on my main pc,because my motherboard is Asus Crosshair Iv Formula and i can do it...!!
I don't think there is much difference, ye that's alot of FPS difference as i can see, but you won't notice much ingame about the the difference. Thanks for the upload though
@gary63693 If you know early you just buy a cheaper graphic card that will do the same job for less $ since it's bottlenecked anyway. Hate bottlenecks:<
why are people spending 300 dollars on a cpu if a 5 year old q6600 at stock clock still rocks every game with min. 30 fps what really is enouhgh ! :D an if you overclock it to 3.6 gHz youll get 60 fps ...
so why the fuck should i upgrade to an I7 ???
even with my olg gt9600 i can run brand new games at high settings with 20+ fps ... ill upgrade to a gtx470 (i know the q6600 bottlenecks it blaa blaa ) and ill get every game maxed out running with 70 fps .. yeah :) :D
Ok ok what you forgot to say is that an I7 in gaming IS MADE FOR DUAL GPU! In single GPU configuration there isn't much of a difference... maybe 5-10% at MAX! Buy a quad if you got a single card and you need for gaming... really it will not make a difference... plus if u ever wanna get the same performance as an I7 from a Q6600 just get the Q6600 to 3.0ghz
Also have to consider the difference in your ram. 4 GB DDR2 vs ?GB DDR3 which is also clocked much faster. Maybe test with underclocked DDR3's (if possible) for fairer result?. Still, nice reference vids to watch while i wait for my i7 930, 6GB DDR3 and 2x gtx460 sli set up to arrive.

2.6ghz cpu on 775 vs 2.8ghz on 1366....
That isnt fair.
Try the Q9550 vs i7 930.
If we go old and new the Q9550 is still kicking i7 930 knees. Its like if i said "i7 2600K vs i7 930" of course its gonna out perform it.....

@ShadowM4ST It could be that the mobo was the bottleneck.
Because Q6600 to i7 means newer chipset.
So the PCI lanes can be different but if google some cpu benchmarks u that a CPU can make the
difference especially in Crossfire or in SLI
