the most overpriced "guitar" you could ever buy...
wrong way of making the neck..(one piece necks on gibsons break like matches..),wrong headstock angle..(only helps the neck to break and gives it the wrong tension pull backwards..),wrong way of fitting the neck to the body..,wrong length of neck and fretboard..(your gibson will never sound in tune all the way...)
ask any pro luthier and he will confirm this..gibson survives on their customers brand loyalty and portraying them as "handbuilt.."
@hansebeddari the only wrong thing here its yours idiot comment.. "your gibson will never sound in tune all the way" WTF are you saying?? If you say this probably you have never played a Gibson before! And if all in gibson guitars are wrong as you say, why the most of the guitar legends (and millions of people) have played gibsons for all their lifes? If Les Paul were still alive probably he come to you and spit in your face.
I have owned 4 gibson les paul models. They are all great, but just like Harley-Davidson it is just a name that carries prestege. There are prenty of guitars that are just as good for a lot less money.
@ReekoArch You only say that because you can't afford it... When you get to a point where you can afford to purchase one of these beauties, you will change your mind. Believe me.. It happened to me.
This maybe the case for gibsons coming from Kalamazoo, which by the early 80s right before that factory was shut down were damn good, but not now and not for the price they ask for. So until Gibby deciedes to get their act together and start considering price drops packaged with quality, I'm sticking with the guys over seas who get right everytime.
@ReekoArch They need money and we need guitars and all that but i do agree with that i wuld love it if they were $200-$900 that culd make them more money and new customers and also be affordable for us
@ReekoArch True, except for the Gibson Custom Shop jobs. Those are truly first rate axes - of course, you pay through the nose for it, but worth every penny in my estimation.
@rbilleaud LOL I made that comment two years ago. I'll agree with you on the Custom shop stuff. Those are nice guitars. Played a John Sykes the other day that made me just about cream myself. I just find it ridiculous that they charge so much for their Les Paul standards and these VOS specs when you have the Flying Vs, Explorers, or even Firebirds, which is about the standard price for a USA made guitar
Based on this video (and the outrageous pricetags), you would think that Gibson guitars are Heaven-sent. They're good, but so are many other brands too...and many of them cost a fraction of the price. Much of Gibson is propaganda and hype.

My Uncle, Hartford Synder, worked in the custom shop in Kalamazoo. At his house, I still recall him sketching out the Dove and Hummingbird on paper before giving his idea to Gibson for their new pickguards. They named the guitars after his designs. I kept a few of them too.
Now, Heritage Guitar is in the old Gibson building in Kalamazoo. Toured the place last fall. They still makes their guitars the old handmade way. JP Moats, Rendall Wall & the other old gibson guys have kept it alive.
vos is just the goo they put on the inlays, the dull top and plekking of the frets. the 1960 has a thin neck. the 1958 has the baseball bat neck. maybe you don't have a 1960.

Gibson is just an overpriced name. Don't get me wrong they're nice, but not worth the money they often demand.
I'm looking especially at you, Dark Fire, Zoot suit, Robot guitar, Holy V, Eye Guitar, and Studios

no the humbucker was built as early as 1936. seth lover built and patented a humbucker for gibson in the 50`s.not gretsch.

I'm getting a VOS Les Paul with an antiqued finish and hardware, but I'm not sure if it has the bumblebee capacitors.
Does anyone know if all the VOS guitars use them or just the ones that aren't antiqued.
