I played ball at Harrison too. With Carmelo and the Sox. Right before that we were the Pirates. We had what would be called a "rivalry" with the Dodgers, Royals, Cardinals, and later on the Mets and Blue Jays. Oh yeah and the Indians used to piss me off too.....Mike (Indians coach), Steve (dodgers coach), and Salomon (Cardinals coach) would always get under my skin LOL.They were good people off the field but man I really wanted to win everytime we played their teams.

I can remember when they used to freeze the tennis courts for hockey. One winter was so cold that they froze the field just west of the swimming pool. That was over 35 years ago.

I used to sneak in that swimming pool at night.

I ought to know you because My Brother Stanley Givens and me used to sneak in the old pool at night there was 2 out door pools, They used to freeze the feild just like you said but almost every wonter we would ice skate on it, I lived at 1852 w. 18th street. Do you remember the big drinking fountain where they have the small one now it used to look like a big bird bath LOL, Look what they did to our swings they put a piece of leather in place of the wood seat, Sand Box is gone too.
