As much as I love Uematsu's work, all of his contributions to the series in the past has made everyone create a great bias against any other composer that comes to handle a score in the franchise. FFXIII had superb music overall
And what with Yoko Shimomura handling VersusXIII, I have nothing to worry about.

This was the first FF I never finished (got to the last chapter and just got too bored to continue I forced myself to play that far), I hated the story, it sucked hard. It was way to linear. and if I don't like the story and then you can't deviate from that story, it's not worth my time. Im hoping Vs 13 will be redemption and a true sequel, but as it is FF13 was not very good. Also I hated the Metal Music, the Loss of Nobueo was a hard hit.

You never did a review on the plot..oh wait there wasn't one. They present you with enough bullshit to get by, but they never tell you what's going on in a grand scale of things. Was the focus given by Anima to the l'cie to stop Barthandelus from carrying out Lindzie's plan to bring the maker back or did the l'cie just defy fate? There's a lot of question just not answered at all.
I LOVED this game! Great story, amazing characters, and a thrilling battle system. If anything, I would highly recomend this game, especially to fans of dungeon crawlers like Nocturne and DDS. As a fan of that style, I felt right at home with this game.

this is the kind of video game that could have been a best selling book. the story really is everything. what makes it better than a book (other than the no reading part) is that you can actually develop and work with the characters to make reaching the climax and overall ending of the story extreemly satisfying. although its a long game i don't mind staring at it because just watching a game as gorgeous as this is pleasant in its own right. overall its a great game but probably not for everyone

Final Fantasy XIII was okay. I got a little annoyed and bored of the straight tube hallways on some points of the game. But it is a fun and good game.

Hironobu Sakaguchi left Squaresoft with a such a big role to fill. He is the original creator.

i have played most of the FF games including X-2 (100%) and ff12. FF13 was imo the worst ff games made. Although it had stunning graphics, the game was extremely linear and only branching off to get to treasure chest, other then that there was no exploring only get from point A to B.
People say that after 20 hours the game gets good because you get to an open area. But when i got there, it was still massively disappointing. all the missions felt like chores having to run back and forth...

What I hate about this game is the names of different places. Coccoon? Palumpolum? Pulse? Ehh, they could've been more creative with the names :D But I still like this game!

Lightening is one of my favourite Female characters of the franchise, finally nice that the lead wasn't a teenage boy in a strop but a strong willed woman.
If i may be honest for a moment. Personally i liked FF2 , 3, 5 was meh, 7 was so over rated it made me hate it, i loved 8, 9 couldnt hold my attention long enough. 10 was epic, 10-2 was a terrible Charlies angel estrogen charge overly mainstreamed game. 12 was a great new way of working the FF world, and 13 was what i would say is right between 10 and 12. The fact is you cant make everyone happy. and you cant carry a person through the story as you want if you waste 10 hours on side quests.
7 was overrated? It deservers all the positiveness it can get, it is still best Final Fantasy game and has the best story, right next to Final Fantasy 6 and 6 had the best villain.
10 was the last good, (notice not great) Final Fantasy. It had engaging story but voice acting sucked major balls and licked dunghole...IN JAPANESE AND IN ENGLISH. Then it all went to shit, and I am hoping FF XIII-Versus can redeem this downspiraling series of fantasy.

I'm playing through XIII right now, I'm on Chapter 9. The combat system is great- plays like a faster version of X-2, with minor tweaks. Story is interesting, but half the cast isn't. Linearity isn't an issue, it's just a bit odd. Not the best FF, but a decent one.

They set the bar at an all time high when they released FF X,just my opinion. The storytelling,the expansive world,the interesting characters and above all,the story! The most awesome part about FF X for me was not about the gameplay system,its graphic or anything,I kept playing because of its story. It has one of the most unique storyline amongst all of the other FF. The game almost made me cry when I finished it,you just have to see the ending through your own gameplay to really appreciate it.

I myself don't want to bash the game because I haven't spent much time with it... however, after feeling that all I was doing was walk on a hallway, and holding the attack button for hours, I stopped and switched to Xenosaga 2, for comparison's sake...
And I found myself having fun, as complicated and different as Xeno 2 is.
I didn't hate the ATB system that much, it worked in Parasite Eve, but that game had something this didn't; you could move your characters. There are AOE attacks, yet they don't think it's necessary for you to be able to move your character. This game was one epic disappointment for me because:
1. What I mentioned above.
2. The story is too melodramatic, even for a FF game. There's not one relaxed scene.
3. The characters are bad clones of past characters.
I haven't played a final fantasy game since VII, and that was 13 years ago, when I was 13. Is hear a lot of hate from these comments, but is this a decent enough game to try to pick up after not knowing anything about the previous 6 games?

Final Fantasy XIII was okay. I got a little annoyed and bored of the straight tube hallways on some points of the game. But it is a fun and good game.
I think people saying the game "fails" or "sucks" are actually wrong. It's not bad. The only reason a lot of people see negativity in this game is because of the fact the old games were so amazing people so expect to see another game on the same level. Hironobu Sakaguchi left Squaresoft with a such a big role to fill. He is the original creator.

oh fuck machinima is soo paid to give good reviews. this game is eye candy. gameplay is rubbish. since it is linear you get a fucking cut-scene. crystarium is bad. why? because its fucking linear like everything else. oh just wait to you get to gran pulse. no i wont because when i get to gran pulse im stuck in fucking jurrasic park. and they didnt do a good job. the music is horrendus. the boss battle music is elevator music . i could easily play this game for hours and never play it again.

i have played most of the FF games including X-2 (100%) and ff12. FF13 was imo the worst ff games made. Although it had stunning graphics, the game was extremely linear and only branching off to get to treasure chest, other then that there was no exploring only get from point A to B.
People say that after 20 hours the game gets good because you get to an open area. But when i got there, it was still massively disappointing. all the missions felt like chores having to run back and forth...

English version sucks. No offense, the game itself is fun and okay. That's why I bought the JPN version but apparently there is a Chinese + English version with JPN audio so I'm gonna get that.
Sometimes the linearity does get annoying (like right before entering Gran Pulse). But I guess the near end of the game gets fun.

If i may be honest for a moment. Personally i liked FF2 , 3, 5 was meh, 7 was so over rated it made me hate it, i loved 8, 9 couldnt hold my attention long enough. 10 was epic, 10-2 was a terrible Charlies angel estrogen charge overly mainstreamed game. 12 was a great new way of working the FF world, and 13 was what i would say is right between 10 and 12. The fact is you cant make everyone happy. and you cant carry a person through the story as you want if you waste 10 hours on side quests.

10 was the last good, (notice not great) Final Fantasy. It had engaging story but voice acting sucked major balls and licked dunghole...IN JAPANESE AND IN ENGLISH. Then it all went to shit, and I am hoping FF XIII-Versus can redeem this downspiraling series of fantasy.

can i just say one thing to all the haters .... what more do you want from a game than something that will look amazing, have a fun and unique gameplay, and give you questions that will be answered through your adventure. Do you honestly think the creators of final fantasy could explain each and every person , world , government and opposition in the 15 worlds they have put forth for you. Unique maybe but fun? try easy as hell the auto attack ruined it and it was so fast paced that I got seriously sick of the game. I admit I havn't finished it and I admit i had the highest of expectations for an FF game (still own FF7) but this was flat. Quite honestly, I LOVED OLD FREE ROAM!!! FF games had the best when it came to free roam, WHY IN HELL DID THEY CHANGE IT?! That was the end all thing for me, I could get past the gameplay to a extent but why take THAT out, NO SIDEQUESTS=LESS FUN

@zhengyingli Haha, stuck? I chose to stop playing because it was 1: too easy 2: too restricting (ESPECIALLY FOR AN FF GAME) 3: if you took like- 3 mins to learn it was almost impossible to lose. I never got stuck, i got disappointed. Use librascope on bosses right away, then auto attack can basically think for you. change into your healing class now and again and boom, done. Any hurp with half a durp can play.

I'm playing through XIII right now, I'm on Chapter 9. The combat system is great- plays like a faster version of X-2, with minor tweaks. Story is interesting, but half the cast isn't. Linearity isn't an issue, it's just a bit odd. Not the best FF, but a decent one.

The game play was not top notch, it was crap, the AI was crap. This was a very, very linear game, nothing like the FF in the past. Also even though I said the story was good, character development was terrible. The characters seemed incredibly flat to me. The boy with the white hair whose name I can't remember was by far the worst imo. He was whining nearly the entire game and he felt very fake and just uninteresting. So anyway ignore this review if you're looking for a serious review.

What is with all the bullshit reviews that sound like they are scripted? I mean wtf I want a review. Every big name reviewer is saying the same thing (that this game is awesome), but all the small fries are saying the opposite. I've played through the game myself and I agree with both sides on certain levels. I agree with big names like machinima that the graphics and story are pretty freaking awesome, but when they tell me and others that the game play was good , well fuck that.

They set the bar at an all time high when they released FF X,just my opinion. The storytelling,the expansive world,the interesting characters and above all,the story! The most awesome part about FF X for me was not about the gameplay system,its graphic or anything,I kept playing because of its story. It has one of the most unique storyline amongst all of the other FF. The game almost made me cry when I finished it,you just have to see the ending through your own gameplay to really appreciate it.

I myself don't want to bash the game because I haven't spent much time with it... however, after feeling that all I was doing was walk on a hallway, and holding the attack button for hours, I stopped and switched to Xenosaga 2, for comparison's sake...
And I found myself having fun, as complicated and different as Xeno 2 is.

I didn't hate the ATB system that much, it worked in Parasite Eve, but that game had something this didn't; you could move your characters. There are AOE attacks, yet they don't think it's necessary for you to be able to move your character. This game was one epic disappointment for me because:
1. What I mentioned above.
2. The story is too melodramatic, even for a FF game. There's not one relaxed scene.
3. The characters are bad clones of past characters.
