@882here Because a tank is already like a sardine can, you have 4 People in there, and most of the vehicle is taken up by the Gun, and the Engine to support it, so you'd have to have about 2X the size. Most People at that point just have 2-4 Tanks in a column, firing in rapid succession. You'd have sighting issues. The distance between the guns the shell at different places down range. If you hit and kill it you still have 3/4 Left, while with your theory you'd have taken out 1/2

@Heaney5551 thats true, but we do need more snipers in Afghanistan. Over 600+ talibs were killed by Nato snipers. Imagine a dozen Nato sniper teams hiding in the mountains surrounding Taliban-controlled villages with UAV(drone) support. We wud b killin several dozen Talibs for atleast 2 days, weakenin & harassin them b4 launchin an assault with spec ops & ANA soldiers(we used these tactics wen we 1st invaded a-stan, wonder wat now?)!!

You just don't understand ANYTHING about military tactics at all do you.

You don't just have "Taliban controlled" villages, because you don't have a clue where the Taliban are.

You have REGIONS that you know the Taliban are in, but you have to patrol and search.

When they appear, there's no possible way you can have snipers ready.

Does that stack behind the tank rout the exhaust upward to protect infantry from the heat? I know that was one of the problems with the Abrams turbine engine, the exhaust is very hot so its dangerous for infantry, but that can be fixed by just directing the exhaust away from infantry right?

They should have send Abramses way sooner. With tanks you need less air strikes which means less colateral damage. Tanks also mean less NATO casualties because they are designed to take hits and survvive.

Deploying tanks saves lives of both NATO personnel and civilians.

The Danish and Canadian Leopard 2's were also very effective.

Get rid of all those peacekeeping vehicles with little to no weapons and garbage like Stryiker which can't even fire on the more.

I know the Challenger 2 was in Iraq. Lots of footage and photos of that.

But as far as I know it was not send to Afghanistan and the most powerfull vehicle the British desployed was the Warrior. I did read the British Army did request Challengers but this was denied by the government.

But I could be wrong and it has recently been deployed there because the Danish and Canadian Leopard 2's left.

@NationalSniper no challenger 2 tanks got deployed to afghan(saddly). The government said that it would give the wrong image to the afghan people and that we didnt need them, which i find is a load of bollox really.

I totally agree. The fear of giving wrong image is more important to politicians then the safety of their troops. :(

But they also send jet fighters which give same image as MBT. With tanks you need less air strikes so less colateral damage. You can actually defeat the enemy with MBTs.

IDF experience shows using heavy armor is more effective and cheaper then airstrikes.

3000 airstrikes can't get rid of Kadaffi. Send in MBTs and its over for him and his army.
