Yeah, I was a little concerned with it at first. It's a bit thin but It works well for capturing fine detail. The thinner it is, the better for fine detail. If the latex is too thick, sometimes it doesn't capture those small details that make the mask look more real. Watery is the way to go haha! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks dude! Appreciate it! Yeah I remember being a new mask maker. I looked EVERYWHERE for information on mask making haha! I never had any luck! I scraped up enough information to start the process and I failed tons of time haha! However, I learned from those mistakes and perfected the way I crafted masks. I learned even more from EvilSlaughter13's mask making tutorial! Acrylic spray! Never knew I needed the stuff haha! Thanks for comment!
Yeah sorry about that haha! I slept weird the other day so my thoughts were all jumbled up when I made this video. Basically I just wanted to show slip casting but I couldn't because I needed two hands and... yeah. Haha. I ended up showing the molds both filled with latex which is all I should have done in the first place. I guess I enjoy covering every single detail in my videos. Gives me something to do haha!
Right on! Haha sorry about that. I've had those two clips for the longest time and I had no idea where to put them. Just decided to randomly put them there haha! Hopefully those random clips of mine won't be appearing anymore but who can tell? Haha. Only time.
Haha I usually buy my Ultracal-30 at this place called "Clay Planet" and the first time I went there, I tried explaining what I was using it for. I couldn't explain it very well and they're like "Oooh! You mean slip-casting dude." So I'm like "Cool". Haha. Not sure if it's the correct term but it's just basically pouring the latex in the mold, and pouring it back out. Haha. Technical terms for everything. Thanks for the comment!
Haha yeah it's been awhile since I've done it because my latex used to be mega thick. I kind of liked it thick so I just went with that for awhile. Then I bought some cheaper stuff and now I'm back to slip casting haha! I imagine it's pretty frustrating sometimes with silicone. I'll probably try using that stuff someday. Looks pretty cool haha! Thanks for the comment!
Do you have a time to thickness ratio for how long to leave the latex in the mold before removing it, to achieve the desired thickness? Thanks
