He was brilliant in this film. I spent today feeling so emotional after this film. Perhaps one of the best screenplays in a long time. He brings so much heart to this film... the feeling of hope within tragedy. Even with the tragedy, his performance convinces you that Celia made a change in Paul's life, and that Paul will be different now... better.

If you like MM and haven't seen this film,find it! Obviously he is a bit older now, but I think he was the perfect age to play that part at that time. He actually has a chance to really show what he can do. It is also just an enthralling film, with very good supporting acting too. Great. I do hope that he gets another opportunity in the future.

I saw it! At last. It is a fantastic movie. It´s a huge drama. The character of Matthew Macfadyen in this film, surprised me, actually. He is a very camaleonic actor, really. from this movie to death at a funeral, or incendiary or the pillars of the earth or pride and prejudice, there is a world. very different pictures, very different characters and no one of them are similars betwen them. This is, in my opinion, be a profesional actor, good actor.

he's not in more movies because he knows what he's doing. You can tell he is selective with the roles he plays and that's o.k. with me. He has been asked about coming to Hollywood and sounds like he's not too interested. Apart from being so incredibly sexy and handsome, he's smart!:) He will be in the Starz production of The Pillars of the Earth, which starts 7/23. It looks to be an incredible miniseries. You can enjoy 8 weeks of Matthew if you watch=)

Finally it was clear, Celia was Pauls sister, and she wanted to see the will of her father.

When Penny asked "is that true?" she wanted to know, whether Andrew loves Celia. Celia probably thought, Penny just heard, that she is Andrews sister. A simple, tragic misunderstanding, Penny was jealous.

Oh GB, dreadful weather and food, but giving to us the most wonderful actors as Antony Hopkins, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, Sean Connery, Kenneth Branagh..and last not least Matthew MacFadyen. P&P made him known worldwide, very late...cause "my fathers den" is one of his best movies and he and Emily Barclay should have deserved an Oscar-Nomination.

first of all, I don#t know exactly. But buy the English movie, you get it everywhere and no problem to understand it, with the subtitles. MMs voice is much better in the original movie. Abd also the accent of Newzealand is funny. A real great film, great story and very good actors, Celia is fantastic, the music.....!!
