People complain about famine, disease, riots over lack of water and resources, but its all a part of life. This has to happen in order for nature to work. It holds our population at a sustainable level. Maybe when technology evolves in the future we will have a better life.
This is a bacteriophage (hence the title) and it is not harmful to humans. Bacteriophages, or phages, are types of viruses that infect bacteria only..
Yes sir. Isn't it great. It's so funny because they need alternatives to fighting bacteria and infections. This my friend is the wave of the future. Especially since bacteriophages are meant to kill E-Coli and such. It's cool because bacteria is evolving so that all those antibiotics don't do that much good.
Thanks alot man! Exactly the answer I'm looking for. Something that destroys something that, we could be infected by...however, dosen't harms us(hopefully, I didn't lose you there, lol.)! This will be great if, it's already in pratice with humans. E-Coli is almost everywhere(especially in negected food and, kitchen counter tops)and, it's making people VERY sick with, every chance it gets!
@BklynJayL I understood every word of it, don't worry about it. Now we all have to understand though that this is why our Earth as we know it, is overpopulated (or so they say). One thing I know is that when there was barely any treatments going on in the past. Like when people got the flu in the past, most died from it and it kept our nations people at a good and steady rate. Sort of like how turtles will lay so many eggs and yet only a few makes it out alive.
@Donalddln Now that all this technology came into play and modern science and medicine have destroyed the very fabric of what kept our population steady, we will grow until we overpopulate and we'd probably be just like China with a only one child policy. I know that people need to live on though and it would be cruel to just let them suffer through whatever sickness they are going through, but sometime or another, we will need to stop and think about how we will balance our nations population!!
Wow! It's sad to see that, you think like that, man! It seems like, you have no value on human life, whatsoever! People like you are very dangerous as, an authority figure(doctor, lawyer, gov't, etc..)!
If I had to be the president, then I would do my up most to help humanity on an start to finish basis, but I am not. We all have our own beliefs and mine is in God. We are destroying life by making life. If the robotic part of them works out, they will have eternal life. I am going into the Information Technology industry, but my main goal is to own a company and help the people that live on the street by having people build big houses for them to live in. I do care, but I don't worry about it.
@BklynJayL Well, it all depends. It can be a good thing in short term, but so many people at once can really drain the Earths resources. Believe it or not, fuel, water, and all that other stop cannot be replenished. Only 10% of Earths water is drinkable (or at least around that area). By 2014 or somewhere in there, Earths fuel will be used up. The more people, the more food people need to process. The more people, the more cars will be sent out and people will use fuel!
I believe, by that time..., technology will be so advance...that, we won't have to use fuel in our cars...or, we'll be able to turn the dirtiest water into drinking water. It's just that, everyone have to play their part in, keeping this world a safe and, clean place to live in. ;-)
@Donalddln Water & food are naturally replenished, and these processes can be enhanced.
"Fuel" is a vague term. Nuclear fuel (Uranium/Thorium/etc) will last for thousands of years. We can also use renewable sources of energy to create more liquid fossil fuels (eg: can be created by heating carbon monoxide and hydrogen, eg: the "Sunlight to Petrol" project or others). In this way, new fuels can be thought of as more of energy STORAGE (ie: rechargeable battery) than a depletable resource.
@Slik1030 Certain E-Coli bacteria live naturally in our gut, helping us digest our food properly and manufacturing certain vitamins for us. Our well-being is kindof linked to the well-being of our E-Coli. So technically bacteriophages can possibly be harmful to humans - if they kill off all the E-Coli in our gut.
The E-Coli strains that make us sick if they get into our gut, are the ones that normally live in guts of OTHER animals (eg: cows). We humans have our own strains.
sweet....now show it's DNAse rip the bacterial genome to shreds! Mwahahaha.

um...this is a medical video about T4... why is there a discussion on over-population??

Hm, do I spot some other phages infecting another cell in the background?

What kind of virus is this and, is it helpful or, detremental to the Human body?!
BklynJayL 2 years ago
@BklynJayL It's called a T4 Bacteriophage and infects the E-Coli bacteria. Yes, bacteria get viruses too!

Lol.. Ok.. Thanks. So, will this be beneficial to humans if, we were to get infected with E.Coli?
