Well my gf left me a few weeks ago because my ex came back into the picture and was just breaking her down. I couldn't stand the thought of losing her so I had attempted suicide that very night. Also, even though the song is probably about him watching someone die, listen to the song with the mindset that he is the one dying. It pretty much shows that different instruments represent different sounds usually familiar with death in a hospital. Organ - EKG, Cymbals - Brain Activity, Bass Drum - Heart Beat, Snare Drum - Medicine, Guitar - inhale, Piano - emotions, Fingerpicking guitar - Will to live.

This song makes me think of lying in bed on a sunny morning with light filtering through my window while I listen to the sounds of birds chirping and so forth, but when you mention it, I do start to think of death a bit. The first time I heard this song, I was driving. As I was driving and listening, I was reminded of a person whom I had watched die, and specifically the line about "our memories depend on a faulty camera in our mind" really hit me hard.
