I thought in 97' he was unbelievable with the most points as a skater for the red wings, but you are right, vernon was amazing. And also in 98' he had 10 goals to yzermans 6 although yzerman had more points. Those awards are always subjective and in the end it really doesn't matter. Fedorov was the most exciting player I have ever seen when he wanted to take over a game.
How did Fedorov not win the conne smythe trophy? He was our spark when we needed it. Not that the other guys didn't deserve the trophy, I just feel like he was the man in the playoffs. Fastest skater I have ever seen.
@ak4733 When WOULD he have won it? In 1997, Vernon was THE MAN. In 1998, Yzerman had 24 points. In 2002, just about anyone could have won it, but Yzerman, Lidstrom and Hasek were all greater contributors than Fedorov.
What a helluva player..what a treat to watch! You look at his effort in the '97, one can argue, was the pinnacle of his career. No one could touch him when he wanted to play at his level.
Red Wings fans especially the ones today don't appreciate what Fedorov did for us, when he was with us he'll always be the best Russian player to me, he was so clutch in the playoffs when it mattered most
@TUdaToken Then there obviously wrong. If Fedorov wasn't appreciated today nobody would be walking around JLA with his jerseys. Or also the fact that a high majority of people give Fedorov all the credit for teaching Datsyuk also the responsibility of defense and how to compete at such a skillful level
@TheDatsyukFan13 I went to 9 games last season, I rarely saw a Feds jersey, Igor taught Datsyuk he was his mentor, sure Datsyuk learned his 2 way game from Feds, but Igor got him into the game taught him everything on how the NHL is played compared to the Russian leagues, Feds wasn't much of a mentor just go and play and why did we boo him everytime he came back to play against us huh
@TUdaToken You really want to base your experience on 9 games is almost laughable as it is no good use at all of somewhat your own proof. Booed because he joined the team that defeated us and also how temped he was to walk away with Carolina possibly. Being a Russian myself Datsyuk and Fedorov were actually very close during the offseason and if you opened your eyes closely to notice via the breakaway goal on Khabibulin and Byrzgalov from of the fakebackhand turn was done by #91 much earlier
@TheDatsyukFan13 I didn't boo him when he came back because I realized how much he did for us, what makes u think because you're Russian u know how Pavs and Feds knew each other they only played for 2 seasons
@TUdaToken What makes you for going to 9 games? obviously never watched his skill level enough to appreciate it which makes me question you. Ive been a ticket holder for 15 years. Meanwhile you walk in and go like you've' just seen it all when clearly you haven't at all LMAO
@TheDatsyukFan13 dude you're a freakin idiot, did u read all the great things I had to say about Feds, it's true man, when people talk about the past teams, I rarely hear them mentioning Fedorov, just Stevie Y, Shanny, The Grind Line and Bowman, Red Wings fans for some reason wanta forget about Fedorov look going to 9 games in a season is the same as much of witnessing a season ticket, I think I've been to enough Red Wings games to know people don't appreciate Feds as they should
@TUdaToken Your the fucking idiot for automatically assuming Fedorov isn't remembered enough when I still know a fair share of people who are still huge fans. Either You go on your own little logic or your like anti social at games or something to talk hockey with people. Matter of fact theres still Kozlov fans....as there is Fedorov
@TheDatsyukFan13@TUdaToken I think the easiest way to settle this debate is for the Wings to honor him before a game and see what response he gets. I'd like to think he would get more cheers than boos but considering he was still getting booed there just 3 years ago its hard to say. Bottom line the guy helped us win 3 cups, some people recognize that and appreciate him for it but others are still bitter at him for leaving. Lot of Wings fans in the world, not everyone's on the same page
That goal against capitals is so awesome!

I always got a kick out of how he sounded like a Scot at the end of the 2002 Cup video.
