  • Nice chord at 1.01!

  • Stumbled on this by pure accident, what a treat!, lovely, lovely tone on your Taylor 12, inspired me to learn this song, btw, you are too modest, your playing skills are excellent, good job!

  • Great job! I recently decided this is my favorite song, and (as a guitar player for over 40 years) I'm impressed!

  • you played this absolutely fantastic, i would love if you could write out the chords of this. i cannot find tab for it anywhere and u play it so beautifuly.

  • My God! Brilliant performance!

  • Wonderful stuff. Damn near as good as Kottke's original, and a WONDERFUL choice of songs to cover.

  • Again well done laddie !!

  • Here's a better one !!

  • Simply amazing! Five Stars!

  • Great job on this one...

  • Is this in standard tuning ??

  • Correct - standard tuning, but tuned down something like 3 half-steps.

  • This must have taken a lot of time and hard work to produce. Subscription added!

  • This is exceptional.

  • Roger....didn't realize this was you until Jet passed along your email! I also missed the "Pitts" reference. Kick-ass playing here (and on "Range" too). I'll pop you a note when I get back from work tonight.

    Rgds,

    Joe Carpenter

  • You are incredibly talented.

  • ..sehr schön gespielt; schönes arrangement...greatings from germany

  • Sounds amazing

  • You are really making master pieces! Excellent and mesmerizing. Btw, I can't trace the Ovation and slide.

  • Thank you for you kind comments. The slide part I spoke of is really only three rapid vibrato notes (the third is quiet) around :38 to :40 in the video. I only mentioned it because I felt that I got lucky with an unusual combination that sounds somewhat like the original.

  • That's very subtle indeed! Am I right to assume that you're a professional sound engineer (and a good player of course)?

  • I'm neither of those things - more of a musician wannabe type. I have struggled with guitar off and on as a hobby for many years, but we are still not friends. And the MIDI/synthesizer stuff is more of a programming effort than anything, at least the way I approach it. I'm not a musician, but I can play one on YouTube!

  • @pitts8rh

You're far too humble. You did a stupendous job on a tough song. This is one of my favorites by Kottke...mysterious, majestic, with an undercurrent of melancholy. It's sad when real talent like yours gets fewer hits than a fat Korean boy body popping, but please know I, and lots of others, really do appreciate your skill and talent.

  • great playing
