  • We used to get local veterans of the second world war come into my primary school and talk to us, one of them was my great great uncle who introduced us to Glenn Miller. Wouldn't happen now, strangers in school are highly frowned upon.

  • My dad used to play a bunch of the oldies in the car when I was a little girl running errands with him and I owe him so much for that! Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, all the the good ones....

  • @bingcrosby1903 the whole song should be 3:16, you're missing this part: Don't hold anyone on your knee, you better be true to me You better be true to me, you better be true to me Don't hold anyone on your knee, you're gettin' the third degree When you come marchin' home You're on your own where there is no phone And I can't keep tabs on you Be fair to me, I'll guarantee This is one thing that I'll do I won't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but you 'Til you come marchin' home
  • THUMBZIEZ UP IF THE MOVIE "In Dreams" BROUGHT YOU HERE

  • This was one of my daddy's favorite songs. He would sing the chorus to me all the time when I was little.

  • THUMBS UP IF "DEVIL" BROUGHT YOU HERE

  • Love The Glenn Miller Band help me rember My Mother and Father Dancing in the living room. I miss them so much. Love this song and more of them!

  • LOL from that movie devil xD

  • I know this is a romantic song but it just reminds me of Devil. Now it's just a creepy song to me

  • tex beneke!!!!!!

  • Archie & Edsith Bunker n:________n

  • My gran sings this :l

  • I used to sing this all the time when I was a little kid. I LOVED this song. Still do.

  • heard this song at one of Carlos Celdran's tour of Intramuros (look it up on Google, and if you happen to come by Manila, try this tour! ^^) and since then, the tune stuck in my head -- especially that's the sort of lines I'd give the BF, LOL... great song :)

  • I love all these fast Miller songs, many were made on the Bluebird label,I dont see many on U tube

  • i am only 19 but i love this song. i first heard it in 12 O'Clock High with Gregory Peck. Amazing movie and amazing song

  • I WANT MUSIC to be again like this, from QUALITY (shitty old one as many call it) to style :)

  • @MasacruRo I know why! It's so catchy and does'nt talk about shagging white bitches while drinking Henny and flying on a G6!

  • This is the kind of stuff tin pan alley was putting out during the war. The war department hated these songs and much preferred the stuff the hillbilly market was putting out like :There's a star spangled banner" and "we're gonna slap the dirty little jap", "Smoke on the water". This tin pan alley sentimental stuff wa good for dancing but it wasn't patriotic enough to suit the boys with the stars.

  • it´s from the movie devil :D

  • The version from the Bluebird 78 is actually the 3:08 one, so the kid was kind of right, after a fashion. That being said, the short LP version is still FABULOSO to the n'th degree. I suspect the short version is from a Chesterfield broadcast. :)

  • Creepy shit song now!

After seeing it in the movie "Devil" Never looking at elevator the same way again xD haha

  • hehe the elevator song from M. Night Shayamalan's "Devil" :)

  • wow now that's such a romantic love song I've 15 years old and I defo prefer this than today's music. Today all they sing about is drugs, sex and rap, whatever happened to singing about love>?

  • @Evilluke40 im 13 i understand lol! this music is much better then any rap ive heard! you rock glenn and the sisters xx

  • i love this song! im a junior in high school and i remember dancig to this song when i was in 4th grade! :')...<333

  • Uhg. I love swing so much.

  • don't worry there's hope for the younger generations, lol, i'm 21 and i have to say this is one of my absolute favortie songs and Glenn Miller is my favortie artist of all time. did you guys know the concept of the gold record was created especially for Glenn? he is simply amazing. i'm trying ot get my boyfriend to take swing classes with me so we can go dancing, does anyone know of a good place to go in Northern California? (we go to school close to the bay area)

  • I totally agree - there's NO music today than what Glenn Miller and the Big Bands of the swing era produced. My Dad, Zeke Zarchy, played with him during the war, and all the big name bands (Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, etc.) before and since. We just lost him at 93 years old last year. But the good news is that he's even on You Tube! Type in Zeke Zarchy, and you're infor a treat - it's a short interview that contains stories and Big Band music and footage.

    Thank you, B.C1903!

  • Me and adam danced to this it is the best song of my life

  • I might b a modern teen, but I much prefer old school jazz to this awful hip hop and rap they play now.....yuck. This is a great song!!!!!

  • LOL reminds me of the movie In Dreams, with RDJ.

  • Awesome song, I'm only 12 but I vl this song :D

  • It really moves - our band plays this "long" version and one that is a bit shorter.

  • you can hear the LP :) how cool

  • i wonder whatever happened to glenn miller's plane when it disappeared but that will probably remain a mystery 4ever

  • This song was played in a play called "Eurycides" which I saw at my local theatre recently. It stuck in my mind and reminded me how, in many ways, western culture has slid into what it has become now. A great tune from a great era. Am I even allowed to say that now?

  • I really love this type of song TOTALLY SUPPORTS THE TROOPS I WISH MUSIC TODAY WOULD BE THIS PATROITIC

  • When I join the Army and shipped over seas Im going to play this song to my girlfriend and she better not walk down lovers lane til I come marching home.

  • love this :D:D

  • GOD BLEES THE USA

  • Why is it dont sit under the apple tree

does that mean the man who went to war tried telling the wife to not cheat on him?

why couldnt they call it don't sit under the missle toe lol ?? but the title works, & am i right or wrong

  • don't cheat or worse, don't fall in love... because when u cheat u don't sit under the apple tree... the apple tree is for ppl that love each other, i guess, that's how i see it..

  • because the 'apple tree' was their special place... :)

  • Did Glenn Miller make this song? Or did the Andrews Sisters make it?

  • Different bands sang different versions of this song thats why some poeple may think some verses are missing.

  • this is deffo missing two verses

  • Gret sound. Too bad we don't have radio stations that play the oldies. Where I live it is all talk show and country or heavy medal (ugh)

  • @tyclip There are a few stations out there, but they are rare.

  • @tyclip Actually I found a radio station in my area thats on the am dial that plays certain oldies like these.

  • @tyclip heavy metal*?

  • @tyclip *metal and i love oldies, but metal as well, its all about being open minded to new music

  • @tyclip Where do you live that plays Heavy Metal? Plus I like Metal and Big Band

  • @tyclip There's a station where I live (Ireland) that plays this era's music.

  • @tyclip there is! channel 4 on sirius xm. and the sinatra channel.

  • Seen the Glen Miller Band Brilliant

  • is this the whole song i swear it misses out like loads

  • The whole thing is here (should be 2:10) let me know if some still seems to be missing

  • @bingcrosby1903 If you're like me and heard this song for the first time on LastFM, then it WOULD seem like it's missing loads, since the version there is 3:08. (though now that I think about it, that version is not exclusively on LastFM...It's just where I heard it and think that it most likely would be heard to the point of noticing the differences in lengths nowadays -- unless you listen to an oldies station.../end pondering)

  • @bingcrosby1903 You've actually got 1 minute and 3 seconds missing from the song, unless this is a different version than the one I have.

  • @bingcrosby1903 You are most likely Playing a different version of the song, perhaps an easier version.

  • @bingcrosby1903

    I've got a version wich is 3:13, it's from his best-of cd.

  • @bingcrosby1903 The song is 03:13, so sometingh is missing, will post it for you! :)

  • @luvukyleandkenny i have the sheet music for this song and this one misses out a whole like half verse i think but there are probably different versions

  • Well, salam alaikum, cousin! I am glad you survived and you have my sympathy for what you have been through.

  • I'm a young'n (30) and I love this song! Some young people truly do appreciate good music, and Glenn Miller and his band are awesome :)

  • @simplythebestgirl 30 isn't young lol

  • @Linkage1992 Dude, people live to be 100+, so 30 is indeed young. You'll understand that when you're not 17 anymore.

  • It's been so long since I heard this song. It's nice to hear it again, and it's a great version.

  • my grandad used to to sing this to me

  • ook, well, just to say, there are some young kids that truly understand the music, but I understand what you mean.
