  • This is very nice!

  • Thank you! :)

  • Hey Laura! It is so great to see your videos doing so well:)

You are fantastic at this! You go girl! You ROCK!!! :)

  • Awww! Thank you so much BOP! :)

  • How do you ship your gumpaste figure? I am about to ship some to friends but I am afraid they will arrive all broken or smashed!!!

  • Haha! I can almost guarantee they will arrive broken. At least some part of it will break, no matter how well you package them. The mail carriers are not careful at all. :)

  • @laurapoopie Maybe you should put them into foamed polystyrene (make the hole for figurine, and cover it with foamed polystyrene as well. :) Many delicate devices are transported that way and I think the damage will be reduce almost to zero. ;) Mario Bros look fantastic! :)

  • Excellent advice!!!! Thank you! Glad you liked them! :)

  • Lov to watch your videos but plz get your hubby to set ya camera on tripod to we can get over the shoulder view would look much better xx

  • Glad you like my vids! It's so funny because we actually have a tripod but it's in our back bedroom that is filled from floor to ceiling with junk! LOL! Every time we wanna get it out we look in that room and we're like, "Ugh! Let's look for it some other time". LOL! :)

  • cool make some tutorials :)

  • Thanks! I have some. Check out my channel! :)

  • super!

  • Thank you! :)

  • is this cake

  • No. They're gum paste figures that decorate cakes.

  • so nice

  • Thank you! :)

  • So awesome!!!

  • Thank you! ;)

  • Sssssssoooooooo Ccccccccuuuuuuuttttttttteeee Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Lllllllllllllooooooooooovvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeee Ttttttttthhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssss

  • Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnkkkkkkkkkk Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • i'm not trying to apset u but luigi isn't that fat

  • LOL! Don't worry, that doesn't upset me. I think I took this video of him after he and Mario had pigged out. I bought them a large pepperoni pizza and Luigi ate most of it. LOL! I won't tell him you said that though, cuz he might get pissed.

  • @angelaphan66 Then why did u watch it

  • these are awesome! my son and I have been wanting to try making a Super Mario Bros cake. I think we will try to make these figures over the weekend. Thanks for the video. (p.s. are you from El Paso?)

  • Thank you so much! Yes, I am from and in El Paso! :)

  • very nice!

  • Thank you! :)

  • could I stick a candle in them? I cant find any candles that are mario shped, so thought i would just make them out of chocolate/fondant/gumpaste and stick a regular candle in them...and I saw that you use edible glue, where can I find that?

  • Yes, I suppose you could stick a candle in them, but just keep in mind that when the hot wax hits the gumpaste, it'll turn to goo. Yes, edible glue. You can actually make it yourself. Search for the tutorial somewhere here on youtube. I know there's a great one.

  • what do you use for adhesive? is it kid safe/cake safe?

  • Edible glue. OF COURSE it's safe. That would be rather horrible of people to use stuff that is toxic on things that are supposed to be on cakes.... LOL! Silly!

  • @laurapoopie IS IT EDIBLE?

  • Yup! :)

  • @laurapoopie yay

  • Mario is great. Wow. You nailed it, but Luigi is taller and much thinner. However, his face is fantastic, the likeness is a 10+.

  • Thanks for the rating! This was my very first and only attempt at making these dudes... :)

  • haha the mushrooms, good job personally I think you did luigi better, I think it was because of the eyes. That aside though you are really good at gum paste. I wish I was that good

  • Thank you! Glad you liked them! :)

  • iummmmmmm

  • You are perfect at this... I wish I had your skill.

  • Thank you! :0)

  • your'e be best baker in the world

    your'e work is beatiful

  • You are SO KIND! Thank you so much! :0)

  • WOW! you should be a teacher for cakes and sculpting! :)

  • Thank you! :0)

  • That is so kind! Acutally, I started sculpting when I was 13. My Father is an artist and he taught me. That's why later on, I decided to incorporate caking into my sculpting. :0)

  • awsome XD

  • Thank you! :0)

  • Beautiful work!

Quick question: How did you get the right color for the skin tone and the mushrooms? I've been trying to make my own, but it's been difficult.

  • Thank you! The skin tone is white gumpaste mixed with a tiny bit of ivory and peach. Just a tiny little amount will be enough. :0)

  • showwww us how to the face!!!!! lol

  • LOL! :0)

  • @laurapoopie :0)

  • what is gum paste? Awesome work!

  • Thanks! Gumpaste is fondant mixed with tylose powder. Basically, it makes the fondant solidify. :0)

  • Let me congrat you, you are an artist!!! is the best job that I have seen

  • Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! Thank you! :0)

  • so adorable!

  • Thank you! :0)

  • hey laurapoopie what the titles of music haha. i want that music when i will go to bed

  • Haha! OMGosh... so sorry I don't remember... Been such a long time... :0)

  • can show us how you made the faces ...they look so real !!!

  • Thank you! Do you know that it took me about 8 or 9 tries to get the faces right. It was SO challenging! Glad you liked them! :0)

  • laura - I love all of your videos! I'm making a Super Mario for cake this weekend and was wondering if you could tell me which gel paste colors you used to make these fantastic characters! They're spot on :) And what kind of "glue" did you use to keep them together? Thank you!! :)

  • Thank you Chris! I used SuperRed by Americolor and Leaf Green by Wilton. I used edible glue which is a mixture of water and tylose powder to bind the parts together. :0)

  • @laurapoopie I was having such a hard time signing in that I had to just create a new account! - Thanx for replying back to me. I couldn't find any Americolor retailers by me, so I had to add 3 different Wilton reds to get the right color. I've only been doing cakes since August of 2010, so I'm not nearly as good as you, but I'm improving! :)

  • how long does t take to make a cake?

  • Wow! Well, that all depends on how big and how it's gonna be decorated. :)

  • hi laura!can i make the figurine abt a mth advance of the actual event?

  • Hi! Of course you can! That's the great thing about gumpaste is that it lasts a VERY long time! :0)

  • @laurapoopie tks laura!

  • bravissima ma cosa usi per incollare le braccia ? :))))))

  • Gracias! :0)

  • The faces are so detailed, thats awesome :D

  • Thank you so much! :0)

  • wow your amazing great work!!

  • Thank you! I appreciate that! :0)

  • im 10 so i have no idea what gumpaste is but your sculptures are really good!!

  • Thank you for that wonderful compliment! It means EVERYTHING coming from YOU! :)

  • Fantastic!

  • you got mad skills!

  • Thank you so much! :0)

  • Hi, Laura this is so cool, you should give us more tutorials on how to make all kinds of characters. I just love the way you make them. thanks for sharing with us

  • Thank you so much! I would love nothing more than to make a bunch of tutorials... Now, if I can just simplify my life in order to have time! LOL! :0)

  • Heehee, how awesome. :3

  • Thank you! :0)

  • Lol i could probably make the red shrooms but The Mario and Luigi part is where your and artist!!!x

  • That has to be one of the kindest messages I've ever gotten. Thank you so much! :0)

  • @laurapoopie No Problem I really do mean it though If I tried making that it might take me years to do and that b-day would be over! XD

  • hey great looking figures....what did you use on your brush to stick the arms and pieces together?

  • Thank you! It's edible glue which is a mixture of water and tylose powder. Tylose is a gum chemical that makes it sticky. :0)

  • The Mushrooms are so cute ^. ^

  • Haha! Glad you liked'em! Thanks! :0)

  • whats gumpaste

  • It's fondant mixed with a chemical powder that makes it harden. It's almost like play-doh but it's icing you can eat. :0)

  • Nice job, I would like to make figurines like that, but it takes a lot of practice and pacience

  • Thank you so much! Yes, it does take a lot of patience. If you're artistic, you might not need that much practice. I had never made these little guys before and I was amazed that they actually came out on my first try! You should try it! You never know! :0)

  • I slept while listening to this music so cute looooooooooooool had a really nice dream xD I will add it to my favorites so that I play it every time when I'm gonna sleep :p

  • I'm glad you liked this song. I like it too! :)

  • omg i looked high & low for something like this when I done my mario cake last January & couldnt find anything,I love the way they came out.I couldnt gett he body to look right so I cheated & made Mario pop out of a green tube, lol! Great Job ;))

  • Thank you so much! Glad you liked them! :)

  • Wow! THANK YOU! :)

  • I'm trying to master the faces and hands (most tricky part!) - they're brilliant! Shame most of the video shows how to attach the arms. Any more help please??? From 'desperate to learn' mum in the Isle of Man x

  • Thank you! The faces were SO HARD to do! I literally had to do them over AT LEAST 8 to 10 times each! The only way to achieve the right look is trial and error. I was so into it that it wasn't until the arms that I even thought of recording! LOL! :)

  • Thanks for making this video!! I made Mario and Luigi cakes and used your womderful video to go off on. They turned out great thanks soo much !!

  • You're VERY welcome sweetheart! I'm sooooooooo happy you found it useful and it helped you! :)

  • HOW CUTE I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • Wow, they're fantastic! My son was hoping like mad for a Mario Bros cake for his 4th Birthday, so when couldn't find a ready made one anywhere (not much choice in the Isle of Man!), I decided to have a go myself. As I never decorated a cake before I used ready rolled fondant, us the leftovers to make the figures. My 10 year old made the go kart. We had great fun and my younger son loved it. I'm now trying to learn as much as pos on utube so I can make cakes for the rest of my family. Cheers!

  • That's awesome! Thank you for the kind words! :)

  • These are awesome! For the black here did you airbrush or jel colour?

  • Thank you! These were gel colors. :)

  • wow they came out perfect

  • Thank you! :)

  • ooooo!

  • Hee hee! Thank you! :)

  • O.o

    Unspeakable....

  • Luigi is bald !

  • Duh!

  • Amazing!!!

  • Thank YOu! :) So glad you liked them! I can't believe they actually came out looking like the actual Mario Bros. If I had to do them again, I don't think I'd be so lucky the 2nd time around! LOL!

  • i think you would! could you please make a tutorial on how to make their heads because i'm making a mario cake for my nephew......... he loves them! Thanks!

  • Haha! Thank you! I would love to do a tutorial for you. Unfortunately, I probably won't have the time available before you have to do your cake. :)

  • thats okay i will have to look for one on the internet. =)

  • Woooooooooooow

  • THANK YOU! :)

  • I LOVE THESE SO COOL

  • Thank you! :)

  • THESE ARE SO LOOOL!! I laughed so hard at Luigi without his hat! XD

My sister says they're rubbish, but shes 8 so, who cares what she says (I've just had an argument with her so she's saying stuff she doesn't mean)

So that means she loves them aswell :D

  • Thank you! :) Show her the video when she's not mad at you and then tell me what she says! LOL! :)

  • After reluctant addmittance, she says she really likes them (although, like me, she laughed at Luigi without his hat) You've got to admit, he's pretty funny :P. Anyways, keep up the great work! 5/5

  • I couldn't remember if I had already posted a comment for this..but these are amazing!

  • Haha! Thank you Therese! You are SO sweet! :)

  • nice job. if made some of those i would so be tempted to eat them id probably eat there noses first! XD

  • Hehe! Thank you! Glad you liked them! :)

  • Those figures look sooo real, your very good, my children love super mario! Great job :)

  • Thank you! :) I use to play the Mario Bros. video game all the time when I was a kid! I still love'em! :)

  • LOL! taste shelly! :) You CAN eat gumpaste but most people don't because they're mainly for decoration. Gumpaste is fondant mixed with a powder called tylose. It makes the fondant get really hard! :) It still tastes good though but crunch. My nephew Karik made little Sponge Bobs out of gumpaste then ate them! LOL!

  • oh!soooo.cute!congrats!

  • Thank you Monica! :)

  • Do you ever get tempted to eat a piece? cause i would lol

  • LOL! Yes I do! :)

  • lol

  • What type of gumpaste do you use? Do you make it yourself or is there a good brand to buy? I bought the Wilton brand of gumpaste and man its sticky!!

  • I use Wilton fondant and then mix it with tylose and turn it into gumpaste. I bought regular Wilton gumpaste one time and didn't like it. It was TOO dry and had tiny hard chunks in it. Was very annoying! LOL!

  • Great work, very inspiring :D I hope you can show us how you modeled the faces

  • Thank you! It's funny because it didn't even occur to me to record what I was doing until AFTER I had done the heads. It took me SEVERAL tries to get the faces right. Quite frustrating, but when I got it, I was ecstatic! :)

  • What is the product you painted on the arm to attach it to the body?

  • Edible glue. It's a mixture of water and tylose powder (a.k.a. gumtex). :)

  • How cute!!! Fantastic work Laura!

  • Thank you! :)

  • ahhmazing =) awesome job!!

  • Thank you Collin! Glad you liked them! :)

  • Oh my flipping goodness!!! Those are so cute!!! I mean they look almost like toys instead of gumpaste figures!! U rock n u know it Laura! hahaha GJ

  • LOL! You're awesome GJ! Thank you! :)

  • Noooooooo ur awesomeeee!!! hahahahaha :P

  • whoops! instead of you've, i put you're. i mean you've. :)
