  • type in 43087 and 43070. that vid and this vid are hellfire

  • wow! =0

  • go hornby

  • Why Did The Train Not Stop At The Station

  • It did, its just the platform is at a different location on the other side, a bit further back and due to the filming angle, the other platform could not be seen

  • because its a cross country

  • I love trains and Hornby and i've seen one in Gloucester!!!

  • It would be this one. It was the only one to recieve the livery.

  • The locomotive was Hornby...and I recognise the bridge it's sitting under as being from the Hornby range too!

  • FOrgive my ignorance but what the hell is clag?

  • It's the enthusiast's term for all the black smoke and crap that comes from the engine when revved.

  • @Currie01 deisel smoke out engine

  • fuck that sounds lush nice vid mate 5 stars

  • Woah! theres a train called hornby?? all i saw from those train makes were

Intercity, Virgin, and a great westen :S

  • There was a train called Hornby but it is now in First Great Western livery with a new MTU engine

  • shame they never really looked after it properly. i saw another vid of it at nrm i think and it sounded really knackered.i think both power cars are with fgw now.i did love the hornby livery, very striking

  • sounds amazing doesn't it!

  • I wonder if god has an electric button in his hand to move the train... and we are the little plastic people... ^^

  • he must be rich to afford all the trains ,track

    trees and buildings!

  • Damn right! lol

  • well it says god made the world.

but i didnt think it would be like me making a model railway!

  • excellent

  • are those coaches ex midland mainline?

  • yeah, but i think they were returned to midland mainline after this train set was split. Keeping in mind that this set split long before it became EMT

  • Thanx for the info!

  • so theres no more hornby HST?

  • Fantastic!!!

    5*****

  • kwl !!

    i thought there wasn't such a train !!

  • I remember seeing that HST when I was going over the road bridge

  • oohhh listen to that! MTUs are utterly hopeless by comparison.

  • I remember seeing a cold start by the Hornby power car at York in November 2005. Clagtastic/

  • Can I play with that trainset..

  • Adrian Parcell Rules!!!!!

  • pretty big model train

  • Good sound chip & smoke unit!

  • Lol

  • dude if only hornby did the cotswold rail hst

    do they?

  • They do the Hornby HST but im not sure about the Costwold rail one.

  • What's an HST set doing stopping at Yate?

  • id dint no dat hrnby did BIG model trains lol

  • wow!big model train!

  • sounds like a 567 powered F unit with twin turbochargers. And those cars those units are pulling/pushing look almost like squared off Amtrak AmFleets. Love the screaming turbo sounds. Why cant we have some beautiful sounding rail equipment here in the states. Wait...we do...but not like those HSTs.

  • its sounds as if its being driven like a 37 to begin with! awesome video, shame the engines are going, apart from EMT whos giving us VP185's back!

  • And Great Central giving us Valentas...

  • most 37's do that autonatically in notch 1

  • music 2 my ears

  • Too right mate ... what a sound eh?

  • thats how a hst should sound

  • How the hell could anybody replace an HST (suppose it happened to the Deltics though). For the record though, HSTs have more than proved themselves for years. They are a credit to our railways here in Great Britain.

  • the HSTs arent due to be replaced completely till about 2020 or sumthing like that cant remembeer exactly

the project is underway to design the rplacement as we speak

  • 2016 is the current final year for HSTs to be running.

The design stage of HST2/IEP is ongoing, yes. Just a pity the HSTs have to suffer the embarassment of MTU 16V4000s in the meantime.

  • what? there is a hornby train?

  • Not so much a ''Hornby'' train. Just a livery used by Cotswold Rail. Well, as far as I know it's all done and gone now?

  • It's Hornby and Virgin own it dum-ars!

  • Ex-Virgin...

  • No...Cotswold Rail owned it. Even that's not right, I believe it was actually leased from Porterbrook to Cotswold before FGW decided they needed more HSTs.

I'd avoid trying to insult someone unless you know the facts.

  • Yep, went when 087 and 070 (the CR silver one) passed onto, for some reason, FGW.

Also, viewers should note that the Valenta in 087 was transferred to 161. Only problem is that FGW buggered it up. Damn.

  • FGW use a lot of HSTs over a very wide network, each power car covers on avaerage 900 miles a day and it is a lot of stopping and variable speeds unlike GNERs where most of the time they are at a constant speed with very little stopping pattern until they get to Scotalnd... so unfortunatly the life expectancy of the Valentas are very short.. the last time I checked 4 FGW valentas left but 015 was at Swansea waiting to be dragged to brush...

  • Only 1 power car

  • love the sound of those engines revving up!!! good work

  • Ah I really love the HSTs, it's such a shame they'll be gone soon :(

  • what? they'll be here for a good 10 years to come yet, fgw wouldn't waste money refurbishing them to have it thrown

  • as well as gner

  • yes, mml seems to be slowly disposing of them though

:[ but some of them will go to arriva Xcountry in november :D

  • Arriva Cross Country will not be in receipt of any HST sets for some time yet. Not until 2008 at the earliest. Even then some of the vehicles are being converted from loco-hauled MK3s to make up the difference. These sets are not due to be in service on AXC NE-SW services until mid-2009.

  • They will not be gone, but the glorious engine sound will be.

  • This rocks

  • Cool find!, havent seen it in real life but i understand hornby make the virgin train set with this hornby 43 at the front as a special edition train set!

  • Indeed they do, well, atleast used too. But the other PC isn't the silver CR one seen here, rather a Virgin liveried one.

  • AHAHAHA class, i knew hornby did that with the model train but as well as the REAL train class,

  • Simply the best noise but slowly going due to these mtu thing..........

  • Shame the model Hornby HSTs can't do that!

  • They can if you add smoke and sound units. ;]

  • the HST looks amazing! good job!!

  • I still LOVE this vid

  • amazing video hornby 43 thats strange but good video keep up the good work where did u film it?

  • Yate, about 10 minutes from Bristol Parkway.

  • i wonder wat made these HST's hav a hornby livery???

  • Thats a lesson in how to drive!

  • I live for that noise!!

  • Forgot to mention ... BEST ENJOYED ON FULL VOLUME. TRY IT AND SEE (or rather hear!)

  • Classic HST. Love it !
