  • When it came to the English dub, NBC did not have the resources to do the Japanese opening properly. But NBC did try and in some broadcast versions, it did show up. but it was replaced by the now famous US opening we know so well. And as each episode had a seven day time period from the last episode, theNBC also gave up on having the US voice actors do much singong as they were not good singers/

  • Ahh. Great memories. Disney could have at least credited Kimba during the credits for The Lion King.

  • Ah, so this is Lion Kiong's origins.

Leave it to America and Disney to steal shit from Japan ONCE AGAIN!

  • Kimba, and his father called Kufasa

  • @LeandroMixKH No. In the dub, he's called Caesar, and in this, the original japanese version, Panja. Still the names are similar.

  • I miss this show can't believe I'm already 18 lol

  • It's so beautifully drawn, and this anime was made in the 60s??? AMAZING!!! Disney can't compare.

  • @Sanimangas eh..back in those days they could.

  • @dundeecake

Yeah... the anime industry kinda died.

So did the music industry :(

New generation kids are going to grow up stupid.

  • @Sanimangas We already left the golden age of animation and there isn't much development in cultures or music right now. However, there are still a lot of 'daimonds' to witness in the new cartoons, films, games and music. We're just currently in the 'downer' years with the crisis and all, but I'm sure great art-pieces will come out in the future. :)

  • @dundeecake

    I hope so.

  • Someone plz send me the lyrics of this song!

  • one of the older classics i remember :D

  • This isnt original.. i watched Kimba when i was little kido. and i damn remember this isnt kimba i know i even never seen this theme song

  • @lastpokemon You saw the english version probably.

  • Well, for the 60's i'll be dang if this ain't some good animation! Way to go Tezuka!! I wish they would translate the un-edited version of the manga over in the U.S...but, alas..

Anyway, this has a different feeling. I've seen the english version of Kimba and the opening is, like every other dubbed anime of it's time, as bouncy and rambunctious as american cartoons! that gave it a very kiddish feeling..

  • How great to see this again! I lived in Japan from ages 6-8, 1961-1963 as my dad was in the military. I was so in love with Kimba!

We didn't have any English speaking TV shows except once a week, Lawrence Welk, so I watched Japanese TV and enjoyed it immensely. We had The Rifle man and Popeye, but they were also in Japanese, and so much fun to watch.

  • I love the original Japanese Kimba! This was the best version! GO JAPAN!!!

  • Sure it's the best of the best !!

i was born in 1968 and Kimba is my oldest souvenir in France TV :)

  • Cool! :)

  • This is really well done. The music is beautiful, and the mood seems very different than the KIMBA series I remember. Also,I notice Kimba here is an adult Lion rather than a cub.Was there another series,a sequel, that showed Kimba grown up?

  • Yes, the other sequle was Susume leo, or Onward Leo! It tells the adventures of Leo (kimba)in his adult form, along with Lyra (kitty),and there kids Lune and Lukio. Just search Onward leo or Susume Leo and someone has posted up the japanese version of it.Also check out the Jungle Emperor Leo 1997 movie.

  • Thanks so much for answering my question,I appreciate it! ^__^

  • Yes, i've downloaded this and this is class, kimba is such a beautifull story. My dad never saw it in the 1960's (cuz it wasn't in the uk when he was a kid) but if he did, he probably would of loved it, cheers for uploading ^^.

  • Yes, Kimba is a deep, beatifull and emotional story. I think in the 60's the world westerns (our parents) didn't know very much about animes like today. Nowadays the japanese animation is a fever, but artistcs animes like Kimba are very, very rare. I watched it in 1997, in brazilian Fox Kids. Ah, my dad loves nature stories, he probably would like it too! ^^

    ..And you are welcome! ;)

  • What do you mean by artistic anime?
