In my opinion I think Camtasia is far better then Fraps because with Fraps my game is really laggy but with Camtasia it doesn't lag at all. :)

Wait you guys forgot one important thing, the video codec you haven chosen in the video is causing the lag. Camtasia is better because you can use an xvid or lagarith codec or anything else. The Lagarith codec is a little bit compressed but its not loosing any quality in any way. The xvid codec is one of the good compression codec as far as i know. The truth is, the size of videos is much smaller in Camtasia and does still look as good as in Fraps, i dont doubt Camtasia any way.

Couple things I'm wondering and I would really appreciate some answers. First, is rendering/uploading to YouTube easy using fraps? Second, fraps free? Third, since fraps files are so large would it do any harm if I just deleted the file after uploading? Fourthly, my computer is somewhat old but still pretty good, so will the file size have a big toll on my computer? Thank you if you can answer any of these

@ColdAcceptance go with fraps. it's the best quality, but if i would try out both camtasia and fraps cause i don't know how it would work on your comp. also, if you don't mind the file size, then fraps would be best for you.

Hello. I use fraps to record on my world of warcraft raids.

But i just seem to lag alot when its done.

I dont lag ingame, its only on the movie.

If i render with vegas should the lag disapear then? :S

@babbler254 because fraps captures raw streams into raw AVI format. When you record, you want the highest quality, which costs disk space. It's like FLAC/WAV vs mp3.

i use fraps, i love that it dont lag with right optinons and perfect quality, but i hate that it use so many gb, i checked my com and all the fraps videos used over 130 gb D: xD

Fraps laggs like hell and also before you comment back saying "fraps isnt gay you just have a crappy computer!" well fraps didnt think about the people with laptops or older computers, Its laggy unless you have a good enough computer to run it! i think that the lag doesn't matter because what matters is the memory and CPU of your computer. It also mattes how good of a video card your coputer has intsalled.If your computer settings are high then all of these screen recording programs should work fine ^_^
