Both music programs should be disbanded and NEVER be alowed to form amarching group ever again, That was a digraceful disgusting vomit inducing display I would be ashamed to be affiliated with such programs, and for the spectators to cheer it on like abunch of uncivilized barbarians I would shut down the school and level it to the ground and build a prison there...Fucking disgusting..I would be ASHAMED of myself
@seanvancuren ok i wouldnt go that far.... but i would be ashamed. these are grown people. now to punish the entire school or the nextclass of people that came in.... thats a little extreme. but the bands from that year... oh they would have been benched, everything would have been cancelled.
this is why southern is the best band ever, they out crank every band & then beat yo ass after i remember when this was on the news i was only 5 years old but I remember it though thats why i wanted to be in marching band so bad. And southern jumped a guy in the stands & 7 french horn players got arrested for hazing back in 07' southern is so fuckin fye they hood & as hell & outplay everybody.....LONG LIVE THE HUMAN JUKEBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Playa, I KNOW that if you have this footage then you have PrarieView playing there fanfare in the stands at the begining of the game and the camera pan over to see SU over in that corner unleashing "This Is For You". I humbly request that you put this on YouTube since some Bastard stole my tape...:(
I think SU started this fight. from the looks of it. PV looked like they were ready to march on the field for thier show. SU should have just gone around instead of trying to go through...but who cares anymore its over and done...This is just my opinion
Although my memories in the Storm are many and good, this is one day I wish never happened. So many of my friends got hurt that night, and it was nothing more than senseless violence. One of my dear friends, which was a female, was slapped in the face with a TRUMPET while trying to run away from the fight.
As hard as it was, I am glad no more incidents like that have happened.Bands should always take the beef out in the music not on each other
SMH @ anyone trying to condone this fight. No matter who started it, these are college-educated people. It shouldn't have happened; and no matter how passionate someone is about band, it should never get THAT personal.
The dancing dolls were awesome in that routine. Nice to see today's crop of dolls getting back to this.
PV dumb, why would they pull ranks before letting another band off the field first. They should've gotten their arse whipped. Band Director should've been fired on the spot.
I was on the field for this show. Looking back on it this was the one day where I was ashamed to be a part of the Human Jukebox. Regardless of whose fault it was(i was in the middle of it and I STILL don't know) this was completely unnecessary and didn't have to happen.
Definitely remember sitting front row on the press box side with my pops and saw this happen. Hmm, '98? I was 10 at the time. Some horrible memories from that game, seeing the females get thrashed like they did. I also remember seeing some bass drum player from SU slamming his drum over a PV guy.
I remember this my cousin was in the band at PV at the time of the fight and i remember seenin him a week later after the fight i couldnt beleive that they got in a fight but from bein in the band at PV for 4 years i could say u never know what might happen its been a few times that fights almost broke out, but i can say this its always two sides to every story i have talked to people on boths sides that were in the fight and well never know unless somebody has a better tape that shows everythin
SU bitch ass set up PV. Before they could even get off of the field before they started to prepare to fight. Drummers were taking off there drums already. No band marches through another band. SU planned an assault and hit women with the likes of trumpets to the face. There was not justice. PV could not even perform. SU folk were clapping...Damn shame
when people see this...they see two black schools fighting.....su started it....pv started it....both both fugged up for the world to see and thats the biggest shame!
I was on the field that night. I am a alum of PVAMU, and a member of the Marching Storm 97-99. The night started wrong from the minute we pulled up and it only got worse as the night went on. People who experienced it will have various perspectives on who started it, but the end is both bands -male and females- were assaulted with instruments on national TV. PV not only had to deal with not even playing, but then we had the reputation we worked so hard for get trashed over 20 min of nonsense.
to be honest i was still in high scholl my junior year to be exact i very sad this happen i marched 3yrs at txsu and this was a black eye for swac hands down but it is a known fact in the swac when the other band marches off the you step back in sign of respect why pv didnt you go back and ask them
Now that I look back on this, it is very embarrasing. I played sax for SU and was on the field for this show. For those that know and can attest. . .the evening got kicked off on the wrong foot even before the game started. Our buses pulled up right next to each others, and a fight almost ensued in the parking lot. Then, once in the stands, there was no prayer, and no star spangled banner. Just blowing back and forth. Then the dreaded fight. Very sad. Acting like a bunch of inmates. Very sad.
this is sad and stupid. I'm suprised that SU and JSU didn't fight each other knowing those two bands literaly hate each other. SU/JSU is the red sox/yankees of HBCU bands.
Well In my opinion since the 80s and talking with alum from both bands. They had a foundation of respect for each other. But this was back in the 80s and early 90s
I was at the game at the time and that was a black eye on all HBCU band programs.....but I must say that I knew so many dudes in that band.... and it was clear on tape that mostly all the enforcers in band that I knew just stood there.........
I'm talking about PV........that did change PV's program and also the morale of the band, because they were unfairly treated.....a harsher sentence like the Jena 6
I remember PV's show the week before against TSU and it was one of their better shows...Go Deep, Can You Stop the Rain for the concert piece and Soft and Wet for the Foxes if memory serves correct....If they would have been able to perform we might be able to compare! Sad that that PV was ask to miss 2 classics and SU 2 home games....PV football team broke the streak a week later in OKC by the way, no band present!!
Funny when we were marching in the drummajor from southern said they was going to kick our ass we ignored that but I guess he the one got his ass kicked! Our drummajors beat him like he stole something! Doc Gregs stood in the middle of the field as this was going on but our students had enough respect for him not to swing however some asshole tried to take our band director out!
I was clarinet section leader at the time! Watching this was extremely painful even almost 10 years later! That clarinet playa that got hit was my friend and sister! The doctor said had she not had her band hat on she could have died!
I actually saw her get hit with my own two eyes. It was painful to watch, but she was running TOWARD the fight. In a situation like that, you are supposed to be prepared for anything.
sujags06 I guess you haven't seen the other clips of SU on youtube especially the one with The Human Jukebox beating up 1 man by himself, but oh yeah yall are a bunch of nice wholesome band members and do nothing wrong ever!
Yep, PVU has gotten a little bitchy over the years thats why I don't like their school and I don't like that basketball coach of theirs Cynthia Cooper because she is bitchy to. Simple, SU kicked PVU ass.
It ain't our Fault! As you can see we were off the field and walking away. All they had to do was back up, but instead, they tried to walk through us. They even threw the first punch!!! Sorry about the whole incident and ole girl who got hit with the trumpet... Simple mistake, all yall looked alike, well at least to me they did.
