  • biscuits with colored sugar? looks good but doubt it tastes like the real thing. not all king cake have fillings. i prefer mine plain (no filling).

  • @daveheel Agreed - they don't all have filling. And yes, this won't taste like the best bakery king cake from New Orleans. But it is an easy version you can make and can be fun for the kids, too.

  • King Cake is supposed to have a filling. You just made a cinnamon roll with purple yellow and green sprinkles

  • BISCUIT DOUGH?!?!?!?!? Oh this is an insult to REAL king cakes. I would never ever do something like that. Just sick.

  • @revertedmuslimah I'm sorry, but I have to agree. If you wanna cheat I think the Cinnamon roll idea is better

  • I'm so excited to make a king cake for myself. There is a large smile on my face. :D

  • That's a king biscuit

  • Hey, I posted my recipe as a video reply!

  • Might taste good there's a few issues. The baby is way too big. Secondly, the king cakes are supposed to be like coffee cakes. If you must shortcut it, rather than biscuits use the cinnamon rolls. The texture is more representative. You'll also have the icing pre-made.

  • The baby is supposed to symbolize the baby Jesus. You can also use a bean or pecan in place of the baby. The idea is the person who gets the piece with the baby in it has to bake the king cake the next year.

  • i've seen cake before, what is the reason behind the baby being baked into the cake?
