  • Aya agrees that Variable Formation sounds better than Only One Crash which sounds unlucky.

  • "Because Formation "Only One Crash" is more awkward then "Variable Formation"... and yes, because Ryusei renames everything into more awesome yet idiotic things. In the actual games, one of the more entertaining things to do is shove him into various other people's mechs and see what he comes up with for lines.

  • Fusion porn.

  • 0:35 In the future, handbreaks will be used to speed up ur robot.. how ironic..

  • @zenclinkz Thats the transformation sequence button/lever.

  • Hm... is it me, or is the R-3's arms not attached to anything? You know... when the shoulder blades open up at around 1:04?

  • @darkmirage0 From what I gather, the unit's held together by Aya's Nendou Field (hence why using this is such a drain on her in the series).

That being said, yeah, that is a stupidly flimsy connection on an otherwise-badass machine.

  • @WillRennar Actually, in the original Alpha cutscene, you'd notice that they connect properly.

  • well... i've narrowed the location of Rai's cockpit down to 1 of 2 spots, it all depends on where exactly R-2's cockpit is

head mouted: he ends up right next to Aya down in the crotch

Torso mounted: he's on the back, right where the laser comed out whern R-2 opens up

based on that... i'm fairly sure it's gotta have a head-mounted cockpit.....

  • Note that the cockpit of a real robot is located in the chest, not the head.

  • @darkmirage0 That's actually not completely true, as some mecha in Japanese series do situate the cockpit in the head. The biggest example would be Four Murasame's Psycho Gundam.

Also, if you refer to BattleTech mechas, only a tiny percentage of their robots have their cockpits torso mounted. The rest are head mounted.

  • @ghazzy118 But the R-2 is not big enough for the cockpit to be located in the head. And I'm pretty sure there is a scene where Rai gets into his mecha.

  • @darkmirage0 Did I ever speak in the context of the SRW series, which are all torso-mounted cockpits?

  • i'm so conflicted, i think this even beats out Genesic Gaogaigar win it comes to epic fusion

    then again...it IS Ryusei

  • Does anyone know where Rai's cockpit is? Because R-2 basically hollows out during the Variable Formation.

  • @darkmirage0 That's... actually a very good question. i have no idea. at the very least, Aya wound up in the SRX's crotch *Cue imature laughter* due to where her robot entered the combo, maybe Rai's in the stomach area?

  • @TrueZero2 Well then, I guess its probably a "Screw the details, its cooler that way" sorta thing. Or he could have moved into the R-1 like they do in power rangers but yeah...

  • @TrueZero2 From what I'm seeing right now, Rai's cockpit is on SRX's back

  • It pews A LOT

  • Bricks were shat.

  • Hi. Any idea of which one R robot has the helmet of SRX Combination robot? I like this transformation. Its pure engineering.

  • @SailorX009 It comes from R-1's shield which isn't shown much.

  • This is so ridiculous I don't know what to say but this.....

  • Tronium Engine Furr Drive!

  • @blasphemer18 What amuses me about that is the fact that apparently, Rai is almost superfluous. His only real job when they're actually in SRX mode is to sit there, keep an eye on the reactor, and make sure it doesn't explode.

Considering that Tronium is an alien substance dozens of times more powerful than uranium, this is a rather important job nonetheless.

  • @blasphemer18 Variable Furrmation

  • where does the SRX's mask come from?

  • @evilcleaver

Believe it or not, the SRX's mask comes from R-1's shield!

  • Who get here from Tv Tropes, Technology Porn page?

  • @MrXicoFelipe Complete opposite for me, actually...until just now I didn't know TVT -had- a Techno-porn page. (Thanks!)

  • For some reason the SRX's helmet made me laugh, maybe its just becasue the R-1's head is about a fourth the size of the helmet.

  • Comment removed

  • this is awesome! the only problem is the sound effects! it needs to sound more mettalic!

  • Too much "pew pew"

  • If they made the SRX into a Variable action figure I'd sure as hell hate to try putting it together

Even though I'd love chance to do so

  • it's not everywhere you go it's variable formation man

  • I wonder if the Japanese need their own subtitles for scenes like this?

  • love this animation style

  • I came.

  • Okay, here's what I don't get: Why is it called VARIABLE Formation, if there's only one combination? "Variable" implies that there's more than one way for the three to combine; what's up?

  • yeah.. ur right..... hhhmmm... i guess its about its system or something....

  • Because of two things:

    1) The robots have to change shape to combine in the first place, hence "variable".

    2) The formal name is Formation OOC. "Variable Formation" is a nickname that Ryusei invented, and he's an idiot. An awesome idiot, but still an idiot.

  • Or its something that it doesn't really have because, hey, its the prototype. For all we know Banpreios could turn into a bunch of different things. It has to have Tank treads on its shoulders for SOME reason or another.

  • And 3) One Only Crash doesn't exactly roll off the tounge

  • OK, Ryusei is NOT an idiot--he is a Mecha Otaku!! And Mecha Otaku have been known to come up with wierd names like that for systems or mechs that they like. I should know--I'm a Mecha Otaku, myself, and I feel something of a kinship with Ryusei.

By the way, has anyone here seen HollowIchgo's Ultimate Crossover Series? If you haven't, you should check it out--It's really good, and SRX even makes an appearance in the latest episode!!

  • @nerdorama009 Well said. I think I'll use that in my own series, "The Rise Of The BlackHawks"

  • @nerdorama009 This is how I'll use it. "Why do you have to say "BlackHawk Formation" when you combine?"

"Because that's a little nickname that Railfan1 invented. And Railfan1's an idiot. An awesome idiot, but still an idiot."

  • well there is a ps2 game coming that has og 1&2 and some extras so we might get a combining fmv

  • Coming? It has been out for almost a year now. Maybe you meant an English version, but by now you ought to let go of any hope of that happening.

  • you never know. I mean the games battle system most likely is the reason its taking so long.

  • This combination is full of win!

Makes me wonder if they will be able to make it even better in OGs...

  • About the only thing wrong with OGs is that they DIDNT have a Varible Formation FMV...

    Which sucks...

  • Yep, it certainly sucks, but, well, we can't ask for more from Banpresto. They already sweat it a lot to give us awesome games, as well as awesome animes.

  • SRX is one of the OG more Legendary Robots of all times. I hate when i see him destroyed in SRW Alpha 3... Banpreios is Good, but i preffer the SRX, is more.... how i can say it.. familiar to uss, the SRW old players... long live to SRX and SRX Team!

  • SRX is good, yes but I find it lacks.. uh how to say it well, QUICK USE.

not trying to discourage SRX fans, I'm just saying that the SRX can be FORMED fast, but after that it only has 2 attacks that can be used, and its ultimate attack that requires R-Gun requires near full will. I prefer the ATX team because, well, the simple fact that they dont all COMBINE TOGETHER, if you think of it, SRX can cost you three mechs at once when it's destroyed, and it only gets one attack per round. case closed

  • that's right but i only use SRX if im having difficulty in boss fights boss with high hp

  • I take back my old comment. SRX when Maxed in stats is pretty good. I still prefere the ATX team over SRX, mainly because of the overall ammo use (If you get my drift there)

  • SRX has Aya with Renew, Ryusei with Move Again.

Beside, being a combine robot mean it can formation attack and attack later after combine, and can use seishin from pilots that already made their moves.

And you dont have to form the SRX fast, each R-machine is capable of cleaning the field, alone. Not as good as Alteisen Riese, that's a given, but still can nonetheless

  • Tenja muteki no Supa Robotto... KOKO NI KENZAN!!

  • HOLY F@#K YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • I know that, it's just that before episode 24 showed up there weren't that many Variable Formation videos around; after I suddenly get everything from the Shin SRW version O_O

  • ... Is it me, or did DW's AWESOME version of Variable Formation lead to an influx of Variable Formation vids here? O_o

Now I can really say that THIS is the best Variable Formation sequence out there XD

  • Actually, this is the latest VF video to be posted on Youtube.

  • The head of SRX is in R1's shield... go n see the action figure of SRX n u wil see it very clearly

  • As everybody already said, the R-1's shield, and it doesn't use any part of the R-2.

  • So, has anyone ever figured out where the hell its head comes from?

  • The SRX's trademark head part comes from the upper half of the R-1's shield. The lower half of R-1's shield becomes the hilt of the TK Blade.

  • R-1's shield

  • its part of the R-1s rarely seen sheild, the Z.O. sword is made of the other half which goes into the SRX's chest

  • I think the end of R-1's shield and a part of R-2....but I can't be sure

  • And here I thought I'd seen every version of this video there was. This one just COMPLETELY blows the others out of the water. YOU WIN. :D

  • VARIABLE FORMATION!

  • yeah, thast fucking epic

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

these is the best of my robots

  • Still one of the ugliest Super Robots but great animation. Way better then the video transformation.
