  • His stories are made up. The Taliban wasn't in Pakistan in 1996. He lied about being kidnapped, not once but twice. Daniel Pearl was beheaded, Nick Berg was beheaded...they were kidnapped by the Taliban, this guy is a JOKE!

  • A great shame.. he is a great man and his work is good too.. so why lie about it?? some people always seem to want to decorate the truth.

  • His stories aren't made up, he just needs to do a better job with the accounting that's all.

  • LIAR! And the worst part about it is that he DID do good things, but he fucked it up by being a lying and manipulative asswipe!

  • Simply outrageous. A 60 Minutes exposé has just exposed Mortenson as a complete fraud. A lesson to all - research your charities before giving.

  • @AtlasObjectivist Before passing judgement, lets all wait for the transcript and research the facts, and what the motivation is for this shakedown.

  • @duanewilkins If you saw the 60 Minutes - the facts were presented. I'm not the one passing judgement.

  • @duanewilkins He could do that by being completely transparent with his financial accountability records for CAI. Personally I find it odd that CAI doesn't put their financial accountability records online(something that most non-profits do). At worst he's fabricated stories- at best he's most likely exaggerated events... either way he's diminished the good he's done by being dishonest to the public.

  • this guy is a real assclown

  • What does it feel like when the entire country realizes they were duped by someone who was supposed to be the good guy?

  • I think his concerns are good ones because he is concerned about kids not bieng educated

  • Greg is a ... a man in touch with humanity. He has understood the most basic element of an inherent feeling of human generosity, that can be obtained beyond the occasional charity around holidays, but a commitment of providing a service to people. I am finishing up the last Ch. of his book and up to this point have learned so much more about the Muslim religion then from any other source. The single minded anti Muslim patriotism we have even today is embarrassing and crippling to the U.S.

  • I absolutely adore this book, and this man is my hero.

  • im reading it in grade 7

    its so long

  • greg mortenson is an amazing human being

  • the book is awesome but is to damn long. i could see 100 pages trimmed out....sucks balls

  • @toastybunsprod I disagree, I wish the book was longer.

  • Haha. I remember the guy who gave him all the money's words. "Here's your money, now dont screw up."

  • im reading it for 8th grade reading!!!!!

  • What a great job! I am Colombian and I feel so related to this mission; it's the kind of book that you cannot put down until finished. I so agree with his statement that educating women is improving communities' quality of life... this book found the way into my hands, and I know that my mission is to build at least one school for girls before I die.

  • I LOVE THIS BOOK! I'm not even Pakistani (I'm Indian) and I love this book! I'm begging my friends to read it. I can't believe how much he is doing for these people. Greg Mortenson is now one of my heros. I don't know if I would have the guts to do what he did.

  • I'm reading this book now for my AP summer assignment !

  • Me too! Bishop o'dowd?

  • so i guess pretty recently the taliban has been distroying schools along the pakistani/afghan border...i wonder if any of Greg Mortensons schools were distroyed/impacted

  • actually, no. Since he persuades the village people that a school, with girls allowed, is good, before building one, only 2 out of what 54 schools have been attacked(and not severely at that).

  • he is a saint

  • Amen to that, Brotha!

  • Possibly the most insparational book I have ever had the fortune to read about the most inspirational man I have ever read about telling the most inspirational story I have ever heard. Spread the word about Greg

  • @rammers7 Did you hear about how his book is lies?!?! So depressing.

  • Greg Mortenson is my hero. How much courage and integrity does it take to take on a project of this scope? People told him he was crazy but something inside - I believe God's spirit - told him to carry on. Now, what an example of peace and love and understanding to the world.

If you haven't read the book, do so. May we all follow in Greg's loving footsteps to build a better world for us all.

    Inshallah! Ojela!
