no lag when recording at 6800 go??? wtf??? i played crysis at 800x600 at low but water at high, i got 30 fps. thats with xp and lots of stuff installed. NOW i installed unreal torny 3 with the only game installed is: css, warcraft 2/3 and diablo 2 and at everything at low and at 300x200 res, i look at middle of arena and its laggy like shit! windows 7 is making everything worse except app loading time
@alampandatennisrack I DEFINITELY would discourage running vista or windows 7 on your computer, and then trying to play games on top of it all. XP is your best and fastest bet for gaming.. Without a doubt, also id doesn't really matter how many other games you have installed, what matters is your hardware, have you read my description? Mine is a base system but I really put work into tweaking it, with minimum cost.
I have since upgraded to the Gateway fx6860 laptop, and it's amazing. I haven't found a game yet that won't run beautifully at maximum settings in resolution and everything else. I bought this for $804 at tigerdirect, the best deal I've ever had. Look into it!
Have you tried different drivers? I'm not sure about ATI, I've never owned an ATI card, only nvidia.. In a rare case, your 1GB card might not run as well as my 256 MB card.. go figure
I don't get it; I've an Inspiron 9300 with 6800 Go and I can barely run half life 2 on medium/low settings. I get roughly 25 fps... wtf even with overclocking I don't understand how crysis can be played on the same machine.
Dude, don't overclock your GPU. I have the exact same computer as you do and I overclocked it a couple years ago and I fried the GPU. Mobile graphics cards are not meant to be overclocked. I got it replaced, though, because I blaimed it on a faulty heatsink, but it wasn't faulty, I was just stupid.
I don't own a laptop that isn't overclocked! SO far so good, also I deal 6800's and 7800 GTXs so I'm constantly getting them, anyway yea got to be careful, lately with assassin's creed on highest settings and res, my comp's been shutting down, nothing a little shave and new lap of arctic 5 didnt fix.
How much are you willing to sell a 7800GTX? its been two years now since I bricked my 6800 ultra's bios... i just need another graphics card to put back the bios for my 6800U... daimn... im missing alot already...
I just have a stupid question though. I'm probably going to get a dell 1720 but the graphics card is only a 256mb 8600 geforce. Can this be updated eventually.. like would I be able to replace it with the newer geforce 8800? thanks
thats prety good twekin their andlastly i can barely play with everything very high on my laptop with an 8600m gs but i keep the water very high and textures very high and shadows and shaders medium
Interesting, yea I know am on a 7800gtx in this same laptop, I play Crysis on all settings high (including shaders and water at high) with 1024x768 resolution, and it's just as smooth as this.. I love making do with less!
I have a insprion 9300 also. I've had problems with getting good graphics drivers for the 6800. Once it fried my card, and another time it gave me a blue screened. Ever since then, i've shied away from drivers. I don't know if i'm installing the drivers correctly or not. Plus, how can you safely o.c.
yes that's right it's a special 7800 GTX :) Magical, no really, it's nothing special. but I do know how to make it run nicely, also if you are serious about getting a mobile 7800 GTX I'm the guy to talk to!
can you give me a link to this driver, or newer? thanks!

@andlastly XP's your best bet if your computer is 5+ years old. :/ XP needs to die. It's holding PCs back at this point.

XP or Vista? What screen res with those settings?
I have an XPS Gen 2 with Vista. I unfortunately get the stuttering sound issue on this combo with Crysis and Bioshock (bad FMOD sound implementation)

How high does your temp of your gpu get?
Craigvr 4 years ago
87C degrees with the 6800 recently, but i've heard the 6800 has a reset to default value break point at 115C. Never any problems.
andlastly 4 years ago
that is true i run crysis on medium with my 6800 it does get hot but not above 90C.

Yea I guess things like that can happen. I've however never had any issues, this card seems indestructible. (Now looking to sell it btw)
