  • One of the best with action essentials!!

I also made a short film with action essentials its called the fly i ll be happy to hear your opinion

  • Same dark sky made it look fake at the begining, u should randomize to made it real

  • amazing!!!

  • 0:06 looks real, nice job.

  • Wicked!

  • it looks so fuckin real

  • I can't click there to see Car fire + Breakdown. Cause the stupid new youtube thing.

  • that looks amazing. Tutorial?

  • Looks pretty good.

  • i think th only real looking ones are the ones at 0:05 and at 0:13

  • that's incredibly realistic. I'm so buying this stuff!

  • music Name? :D

  • How did you put the fire behind the railings?

  • @terrysandroid I created a matte to just block out the fire, it requires A LOT of tedius masking.. You just motion track it in to the scene and bob's your uncle

@KayWildcat Check out the tutorial that comes with Action Essentials 2, it explains exactly how to do this.

  • On the third clip, the fire was vibrating a bit. But the other clips are flawless!

  • i have a question if i import action essentials 2 effects to after effects cs3

i get the black background as well. how can i get rid of the background

    please help me

  • looks so real good job man

  • That looked amazing!

  • did you motion trackt this with after effects itselfs or with mocha, because this video is so cool that I also want to make this stuff for a movie from my friend but I really cant work with Mocha and after effects' motion track isn't that simple to work with

  • @backspage I motion tracked with AEs tracker. For 3D tracking shots I'd use Boujou.

Simple things like this can easily be done inside After Effects as long as you get track points in the right places.

  • @mikeysa oh and you didn't add some dots on your scène?

    but thanks

  • wow this is actually pretty realistic, put the sound of cracking and smouldering wood on it and its almost real

  • What is the song name, because it does not sound like " A Dilemma"

  • @bigmikexxxxxxxxxx It's at the very end of the song, like the last 30 seconds or something

  • wow

  • Cool!

  • Which Sound track is this ... I like the Sound track as well... quite inspiring & well match with the video ... keep it up dude!! :)

  • @lakshmikant2008 Danny Elfman A Dilemma from helloboy 2

  • I have a question about motion tracking.

I tried it with a scene, added a new null layer, tracked the point i wanted to add my text, but when i attach the text to the tracking, the text sticks to the footage, but is spinning around in a circle like a crazy maniac xD.

    Any help pls?

  • @Brownlue

VideoCopilot has a tutorial that explains how to track very well. I think it is number 26 or 64. If you haven't already, you should watch them all. Even if it isn't something you want to do, you will still learn something.

  • the third one looked best i think

  • Dude you should make it darker ;)

  • What's the song

  • that looks like a LOT of masking.

  • Question:

From 0:06 to 0:10, and for the last part, did you mask out the fence or what did you do

  • @UUSAAE123 Yeah, created a matte and just blocked out the fence.. It did take a while but something I learned from photoshop years ago is that taking time on details makes everything look A LOT better

  • @mikeysa The more time you take on it the better it looks and it looks great! What's the point in buying expensive software if you're not going to use it properly

  • @mikeysa Could you make a tutorial on how to do make the fire behind things....like the fence.....or could you show a tutorial that teaches that?

  • Question:

From 0:06 to 0:10 did you mask out the fence or what did you do?

  • it looks really good

  • Actually the second one was the best, its a lot of work masking the tubes

  • The first one was crap, but the other ones were amazing! I wish I could do that shit!

  • good job, but how did you do the effect that's like the fire is coming out of the windows and the color??

  • hey u really should make a tutorial on how to do just one clip of these fires they r really good fire is the the one thing i cant make look real!

  • lady in the water ost :)

  • cool man i thought that was real fucking awesome stupandtiboulously fantastically fantasticc man

  • What program did you use to motion track this? great vid

  • how do you make the color of the effects fit in with the color of the video...plz and thx

  • @batatacreew Follow this

Effects > Color Correction > Curves

Use this effect to tweak the colour channels and the contrast to match your background plate..

Once I've down that I use Magic Bullet Looks and Colorista for colour grading.. It makes the video look nicer and sells the composite more

  • @batatacreew something that everyone always forget to do is to put the fire layer on screen mode

  • 2 quick questions

    1. is there a difference between action essentials 2 and 2K?

    2. will this work on a windows OS (vista / 7)?

  • @FurryHaven yeah, 2K has much better quallity

Yeah, they're .mov video file - they'll work on everything as long as you have downloaded quicktime

  • Very nice done.

  • Mine got here really fast. Hey, what did you use for tracking? AE?

  • Hi mate do you use a Mac? Lastly, did it take you long to know how to use After Effects?

  • Did you really masked all fences?!!

  • What is the song, please ?

  • how long did it take for Action essentials to get delivered?

  • @jacobmasta I remember there was a problem with the ordering when the pre-orders were sent out so I got an email saying it was going to be late but it only took a week - Live in Scotland if that helps

  • @mikeysa I ordered mine on August 14th and still nothing. USPS track & confirm is worse than useless

  • @jacobmasta hmm you could try emailing videocopilot, they're usually pretty hasty with replies. It's sent with US Priority Mail which takes about 2 - 4 weeks to deliver to the UK (I think)

I've ordered camera lenses from the US in the past, sometimes it takes 1 week, the longest it's ever taken is 4 weeks.. I think it depends how it gets on it customs? AME2 is educational so there shouldn't be too much of a hold up.

is this the US mail tracker?

  • @mikeysa yeah. I guess i'm just impatient

  • @jacobmasta lol ur buying action essentials just get a torrent mate its free !!! no one buys this!

  • @HAPPYBOMBZKILLMORE I'd rather not steal

  • @jacobmasta lol wat ever just trying to help !!

  • Holy crap! The first shot is lacking, but the rest of them look real! Love how the sun affects the smoke in the third one.

  • Looks so realistic!

  • Looks very good, except at 0:11 the tracking is a tiny bit off.

  • O my gosh tat looks real dude cool one !!

  • best @ #0:14 but u should add motion blur to the moving ones that way it looks more realistic..

  • I saw this question a few days ago, but now that I need the answer, I can't find it, soo.

The fires' color are awesome, what did u "add"

  • @drixerr yeah, I always change the colour with curves too, it can look a bit too red

  • @mikeysa I asked you, how u got those colors for teh fire, they r amazing !

  • really nice but i noticed on clip 3 a small piece of debris fallin on fire could u explain that and could u maby share your after eff. file i would love to see all those masks thanks

  • Wow, beautiful, can't describe it :)<3

  • this song is off hellboy 2 gloden army isnt it

  • Dang time consuming second clip! nice results though

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

    -AR

  • when the camera wiggles, how do you prevent the fire from wiggling with the screen?

  • @T0mstyle the camera isn't "wiggling" it's handheld, but anyways you can just motion track your footage so the fire goes along with the motion of the camera

  • @T0mstyle He tracked the shot and made a null object, and then parented the fire footage with the null, i guess :P

  • @drixerr correctamundo, if I had problems with distance and used more than 1 fire I would use more than 1 Null object and just link it to the fire

  • @mikeysa Isn't that just a deeper explanation of what i said ?

  • @drixerr haha pretty much yeah, but if I were motion tracking 2 things over long distance

  • ithink this is real :p

    joke (A)

  • Nice Job I Like The Music It Went With The WHoile Thing Good Job!

  • that was a really nice clip mate, contrapuntal music goes well with the themes of chaos!

Can you please guide me to learning resources.. im trying to teach myself

  • First one wasn't so good.

Second was very good but with that white fog maybe dull it down a bit.

    Third needs better tracking

Fourth is good but doesn't seem very natural in the scene.

The last one was very good.

Well thats my opinion anyway :) good luck on your editing.

  • w-o-w!

  • wow awesome!

  • TUT PLZ!!!!!haha thats amazing ,i cant find a fire and smoke like that in my ae2 D: but im also quite new at this, like 2 weeks in haha

  • 0:10 pretty amazing!!!

  • how do u get the fire to be behind some of the stuff and in front of other stuff. like with the fires inside the fence. i would only know how to do that in photoshop. is it the same way?

  • @skatermarquis same way, you mask it

  • @RazaKator what editing software would be able to do that? i have after effects. is that capable?

  • @skatermarquis yes, use the pen tool and mask the layer

  • hey i have action essentials 2 also and i was wondering did u only use one fire but change it up everytime and when your fire is behind the railing did u have to mask all those little rectangles out.

  • love it. great music. wat is it?

  • @theHUNTERvideos oh nevermind its in the description :p thanks lol

  • That was very convincing. *nodnod* Well done. :)

  • wow, nice job with the footage! Most people just grab a picture and do it, but you actually do it!

  • You did all this just by following the tutorials on Action Essentials 2? :D

  • You know, now that i keep watching that third clip, I need to ask; Specifically which file from the Action Essentials II did you use for that fire?

  • The 3rd clip ( starts at 0:10 ) is..it's..it's just...AMAZING. GREAT WORK!!

  • i have a question did you do all of the masking by hand (rodo motion) of are they seperate layers.(great video).

  • the first smoke, was both the same, but i love the other flames on the buildings!

  • Dude, that is some damn fine work. The fire had some trouble following the building at some points, but overall, very nice and realistic.

  • good job , are you used motion tracker?

  • soundtrack?

  • Looks Good N' Great

  • does any one know how video copiliot actualy make these clips? surely they dont just start a fire in front of a green/blue screen and key it all out i recon thats what they do for the gun shots though lol

  • Dude, it's pretty damn hard to do that, i have the fire effect and all Video Copilot stuff here bought legally, however.. I never use them haha :D

  • Really nice, how lond did it take?

  • maybe like 6 hours for the whole thing, I did have a couple more but couldn't track it properly

Fire's pretty easy, only really requires 2 or 3 elements to make.. really doesn't take long at all

Time will differ depending on what quallity you're using.. this was SD so it was quite quick, I've started shooting everything in 1080p and it's LOADS harder on after effects

  • @mikeysa Hey man, I wanna ask you something, well.... How to you set up a glow effect around a fire, you know what I mean ?

    Sorry for bad English :)

  • @Perkin0123 the glow around the fire is just an orange solid that's masked and feathered out.. Then added a little glow to it to enhance it.. Some people add a flicker as well by putting an expression on the opacity but I'm way too lazy for that :)

    Hope this was clear?

  • @mikeysa Tnx, I'm new with AAE but I think I can do that :), tnx anyway

  • @mikeysa It was for me, thanks!

  • @Perkin0123 i think you got good english i mean besides when you said hot to set up you mean how do i set up pritty good MHMMk ish lol jk

  • that was nice but 1 question i am making a low budget movie and would like some music (like the type that was in the clip) can you tell me where 2 get that type and other music like that in its nature? thank you - featherdie

  • Search for movie scores, if you're in to film making you'll eventually become attune to listening to the music throughout the film as well as watching...

Search for music judging by style of film.. If you're making an epic over the top action film, search for Michael Bay movies then get the OST listing

If you're making a drama search for American Beauty, etc

  • hey do you need adobe after effects or what did you use for action essentials????

  • Yes, it is probably After Effect.

There are many After Effect tutorials on Andrew Kramer's website : videocopilot(.)net

  • tnx but is dere other another program u culd use.....oh nd iz it possible 2 use imovie??

  • I'm sure you can use sony vegas.. I'm sure that lets you composite or if you're on Mac there's a program called "Motion" it's a very user friendly visual FX program.. not as powerful as AE but much much easier to use

  • do u have to buy it?

  • yeah, unless you have access to it at college or school?

I've got it at college, so I've used it a couple of times, you can get a free trial though, I don't know how much it is for the full price

  • how much did u pay 4 adobe after effects ??nd what happens if u just buy action esssentials nd i dont have AE or sony will it still work??

  • I got a student discount on mine.. I got AE for about £400

but it took months to get it because they wouldn't give me a license.. they were convinced I was trying to steal a copy so it actually took a long time before I got my hands on it

    that was years ago

yeah, I suppose you could achieve this on a simple editing program (not WMM) but it wont appear anywhere near as good as it would if you did it on a VFX program

  • ok thanks

  • @mikeysa got it for free :P

  • @iblokinhot no just hack it ¬_¬

  • @AEvideos100 how do u hack it

  • what is the name of this awesome music??? 0:06 looks so realistic :D you propably had a lot of work with those fences :D

  • Danny Elfman - Dilema

    From Hell Boy 2

This part of the song is at the very end, so you have to skip a couple of minutes to get to this

Yeah, took a while to do but it pays off

  • some of those were perfect and some just didnt seem real, like the fire was to sharp while its surroundings where a little soft,, i'm gonna buy this when i next get paid cant wait :-P

  • O_O Nice that actually one of the best I've seen :)

  • perfect masking.

  • Very nice job!

  • very very very very good!

  • At 0:15 how did you do that lighting around the fire?

I really would like to know!

    Make a tutorial please!

  • It's an orange solid with about 30% opacity I think...

I'll have to re-open the project and check.

Opacity about 30% (the opacity changes slightly to create a slight flicker, you can do this through expressions)

Change the blending mode to Screen or add (I think)

  • outstanding!

  • Thank you,

    I really appreciate the comments!

  • wow great work, not this shit composting like in the other youtube videos^^

  • welldone...

  • @debreleza well said

  • dude, the SONG, please give me a link to it or something

  • Danny Elfman - Dilema

This part of the song is near the end so you have to skip quite a bit to get to it

  • pretty realistic. congrats

  • Sexy.

  • How were you able to get the fire behind some things? When I put it in it always covers everything in its way.

  • use a matte with a whole load of masks

There's a tutorial that comes with Action Essentials 2 that explains it very well

  • Oh. I have Sony Vegas. Not after affects. I'll have to look it up on Google. Thanks.

  • To SD1Airsoft you just get a solid mask it on the footage hit f4 and choose invert silhouette alpha.

  • these are reaaaaal good

only the first one... you should have maybe mirrored and offset the two smokes

  • mirroring usually causes some problems with smoke blowing in different directions. the time was offset though, could have probably changed the scale though, I guess

  • I love the fire at 0:10, the tracking could ave been a bit better but it looks realy real.

  • yeah, I agree completely

I did re-track it over and over and over again but nothing really stuck on. That's the best I could get it.

Did think about leaving that clip out of this video but I thought it looked great against the sunset so I stuck it in anyway

  • GR8 MAN! You dont see this often on Youtube.

If i would come with a constructive comment, i would tell you to use a tripod on the third clip. The tracking is not that precise. If you use a tripod, you can add a small camera shake with wiggler afterwards.

Luv this vid 5/5 and fav.

  • yes, very good dude:0)

  • Impressive sir! Great job! 5/5

  • Where did you download this track?

  • I bought it off Amazon

Chances are you can dig around the internet and find a free promotional copy though

  • oh, or buy it off Itunes.. you'll find it there

Save you having to buy the whole album (which I was pretty disappointed by to be perfectly honest)

  • oh.. very well done. I'd love to know how to make this so well..

  • Very well done.

  • Very Nice work man.
