True. They're just jealous aren't they? Musicians aren't stupid. Cooley knows what people are going to think of him when he plays the stuff he does. But he ENJOYS doing his music, and that's what matters. If he doesn't like playing slow, really, why should he? He's going to be bored, and he's going to get stressed and stuff.

Sure, sure, mindless shredding can be annoying. But who doesn't know this? The fact that people point this out repeatedly, doesn't make them look any smarter. Shredding can be bad just as well as it can be good. Fast isn't bad, nor is slow. Both can be melodic and have a point. The door swings both ways. There's nothing wrong with being a good guitarist.

when I was about 16-17 years old the "shred" craze had just really hit..players like Malmsteen,Vinnie Moore,Tony Macalpine,Jason Becker..etc etc etc.I thought those guys where AMAZING (as they are!) but I only cared about playing fast all the time..now I've "grown up" (I'll NEVER really grow up lol) I appreciate players with more melody and feel..players like Robin Trower etc..there's more to playing a guitar than just idol "shredding" this guy is amazingly fast..but he's missing the point.

Paul Gilbert is fast too...but still just as annoying as this. His picking is insane, but who cares if the end product is not something you want to listen to? This is just for the select few bedroom shredders to appreciate I guess. So you do this at Guitar Center, and a few people stop and go, "My god how fast !!"

Thanks. I mean no disrespect with my previous comment. Rusty should try to use his technique to reach the masses. Van Halen, Vai, and Satriani all did it. Eric Johnson did it with Cliffs of Dover. Rusty has great technique, but shredding just to be fast only gets you a 1 hour clinic at Guitar Center.
