A good record for your first 78! I like the fact that you state your record collecting began "way back in 1978". I had already been collecting 9 years by 1978. Makes me feel rather old :)
@jackpaynefan - lol! Yes I feel old with the newer younger collectors. The benefit of being an older collector is that 78s were more plentyful years ago and much much cheaper as lots were just thrown out or sold for pennies. These days with things like ebay you can find what you want but at a price...finding them out in the wild was more exciting though..you just never knew what you would find.
An excellent example of its type. The New Mayfair Orchestra was an in-house band, conducted - usually - by Ray Noble. The recording was made a few months before the Abbey Road Studios were opened, but after the merger with Columbia which gave HMV access to the new improved Blumlein cutting heads.
