  • I like your rendition very much for the clear diction, laya and suswaram throughout. Yor voice is also very nice to listen to. Wish you all the best!!

  • @nellikunje Thank you for the kind words.

  • I sang this song several times in small gatherings. My wife corrected me so many times for wrong pronunciations and I hope I got it finally :-) I would like to share what I learned.

aashumaam (not aasumam, aashu means fast), neerada (it means water bearing, refers to clouds, comparing color of krishna),

neeraja (born in neer - water - refers to lotus),

nipuNa tara (nipuNatara = good expert),

maanasaakara = making one's mind (not sAgara), kamsAsura (not panchasura),

    draupadi (not draupati)

  • Thanks for your comments. Are you hearing AsumAm instead of AshumAm in my rendition?

Same with Neerada Neeraja - not sure if you are hearing differently.

The mAnasAkara - Yes, you are correct. I will correct it.

Draupadi - Yes, I might have stressed the thi and not softened it to di.

In any case, thanks for your comments. Very constructive!!

  • Thank you. I will try and post another Bhairavi soon and this time, try to squeeze in a short Ragam.

  • superb voice!!!

  • Thanks !!

  • Thanks. Re: the 5th line of the charanam: Though it surely appears in the lyrics, I have not heard it being sung even by great artistes of yesteryears. I learnt this from Smt. Nithyasree Mahadevan who learnt it from the great Pattammal who learnt it from Ambi Dikshitar, grand-nephew of Sri. Mutthuswami Dikshitar. Pattammal never sang it and neither did her brother Shri DKJ. Do you have a recording of someone who has?

  • @vpadmana --You may want to check out violin Balakrishnan in Chennai, whose wife has recorded many Dikshitar kritis (Dr. Srivatsa could be a contact). Mr. Balakrishnan is the son of late Mahadeva Bhagavathar, who taught my mother. They come in the original Dikshitar tradition.

  • Awesome Bhairavi. But, you missed the fifth line of charanam, so does most of the singers these days. Do you know why?

I've posted the charanam for your reference.
