i want to have the heart of Chev Chelios, and this is definitely the workout for it, ive been doing HIIT for a while followed by the Little Method, but this shit will PUMP YOU UP lol
I use to do this a long time ago. I did not know it had a name. In my case i use the bench press then run for a minute then i do chins then hit the treadmill again, seated pully rows leg press then hit the tread mill again at interval i keep the tread mill running and get my rest while walking back and forth from the t/mill this leaves you breathless youdont need a weight vest for this. i had to do this early in the mornings before the other members come into the gym about 4 am i
That looked like a good workout but the Tabata protocol was made to do a single workout for 4 mins straight not to switch between workouts. If you do one workout throughout the entire 4 mins then it works the muscles very instensly and gets the deep muscle fibers even. I'm not saying that this is a bad workout but this was not the intended purpose of the tabata protocol.
@lurchpanda You aren't the first person to bring this point up and your point is understood. However, for the sake of total body conditioning in combat athletes, fat loss, and effiency, a balanced session involving the entire body makes more sense. Plus, when it comes down to it...does it really matter? Traditional Tabata training would require far more volume per area than I needed on this day in my training protocol. I'm sure you would agree that doing work is better than not doing anything.

No, I think sitting around the apartment eating diet biscuits and watching Lieutenant Colombo, on television, is a much better idea; than doing anything like the things featured in this video.
the first exercise is not good for tabata because it's difficult to do very intensly without loosing balance, unlike step ups in the same direction which can be done with 100% intensity.
@danndan6 You are welcome to do step ups, squats, lunges, or anything you desire. People's progress is only limited by their minds. On a side note, if you have ever performed rounds of jumping to a box, turning and repeating, it is quite intense. Balance isn't an issue for me either.
thats exactly what i was thinking at first, "man this isnt much of a workout, out a weight vest on and run on the treadmill" and here you go. that is good.
