I saw nothing about text messaging.. unless the screen it just too blurry/bright and he showed it somewhere.

If this phone doesnt have the touchscreen (qwerty) keyboard like the iphone, I probably wont buy it.

At that point, I'll stick with my VX9800. Chunky, yes, (no bigger than my old phone before it so idc) but I can still text faster than anyone I know. I wont go back to not having a keyboard. Hell no.

This phone will do well in Europe, but get slaughtered by iPhone in the USA for a couple of reasons.

1. It comes out in Europe at the end of this month- no iphone till Q3

2. It lacks GSM 850mHz, which many US carriers use

3. Didn't see any evidence of accelerometers or portrait/landscape switching

4. this is the big one- NO WIFI! The main reason i want an iPhone is for the wifi and full internet capability... and it's shiny.

its nice to see all this iphone junkies and iphone haters beating each other. Just buy meizu when it comes out and you would have iphone desing with lg functions for 1/2 of the prize. Don't talk garbage. Apple didn't invent the MP3 player, nor do they claim it. Apple was the first to redesign the music industry with simple to load music player that takes in an entire HD.

And no, Apple have been designing the iPhone for 3 years.

I'd like to point out that getting an OS from the Hardware manufacturer isn't a good thing. In Apple's case, they overcharge for their computers and can get away with it because they are the only ones that can distribute the Mac OS. (And almost everything in your post is based on your opinion. Best MP3 player? Opinion. [Despite everything, the Zune actually has more features for the same price.] Most Advanced OS? Opinion. [Linux would argue] Best Computers? Opinion. [Thinkpad vs Macbook, IMO])

The KE850 was already available in Korea since December 2006 under their brandname Cyon. It already won the iF Design Award 2007 before the CES 2007, on which the iPhone was presented.

very slow and laggy, not even close to the iPhone in terms of UI, though it looks like LG tried to copy the OSX look. I dont think Apple copied LG, the iPhone has been in development for 2 years... it's the other way around. I wouldnt be surprised if Apple sues LG.

It's a prototype... I don't trust the LG user interface... I've got a KG320 and hate it...has several flaws. Being nice is ok, but if it isn't practical, forget about it. Apple has proven easy and fast UI with their OS, so the iPhone might be very promising.

Yup... it has EDGE. But EDGE is so last gen... Japan, Korea, HK etc. are already on HSDPA.

The KU990 is something to look forward to methinks...

It definately bears a resemblence to the iPhone, but like others have said Apple has been developing the iPhone for at least 2 and a half years now. But aside from that, the iPhone interface and response to touch appeared to be much snappier and quicker than the KE850 did in this video. the KE850 seemed pretty slow, plus it didn't do some of the cool eye candy features that the iPhone did.

Come on!!! The innovation of the iPhone isn't that it's touch screen, or even it's very pretty graphics. It's the ease of use, it's the integration with it and your Mac/PC, etc. Apple took all that's crappy about modern cell/smartphones (call it "stealing" if you want) and vastly improved them. I knew (and later forgot) about this LG phone for a couple months now. Did I want one? No. Did millions of people around the world say "I gotta have that!!" No. Nuff said.

Well it's touch screen. But what type of wireless does it have? What kind of web browser and applications? How well does it integrate with the back end of things (carrier and wifi hot spots)? Unless they match the iPhone, the only similarity is the touch screen. And even that looks pretty conventional.

LG ke850 was already out in south korea about 2 years ago so it prolly means taht they developed the phone way earlier than apple. apple did say that they were looking for a company to design and develope da phone so maybe LG could of helped them out.. hoo knows APPLE is already charged with a lawsuit from another company for the iphone..

Apple couldn't have ripped this off. An interface like theirs would take a very long time to develop, as well as the multi-touch input and other features. This phone was announced, in December??? There's no way apple could just "copy" everything and make the iPhone that fast. I think it's just coincidence. That's how a touchscreen-only phone will work.
