Turbo is not the answer to a lack of engineering skills. It's a philosophy. Turbos can be implemented very differently. Maximum power or all day suitability with loads of torque. Just BMW's new 700 series only got turbo charged petrol engines. 760i got 2 chargers. 6l V12, 544hp at JUST 5000rpm. Torque peak at 1500rpm. It's a luxury sedan. An Audi TT RS is a sportscar. 2.5l 5 cylinder, max 340hp, insane sound. 2 different worlds, 2 different ways how to implement turbos. Think about it.

OK W12 is nice but a bit dated. Looking forward to the new version of the upcoming A8 next year, maybe turbo charged who knows.

All the 4.2l versions. RS4(B7), S5, A8, A6. And just because the capacity hasn't changed much, the 4.2l these days are not comparable to the one's of the 80's and 90's. And of course the 10 cylinders. Current Audi S6 and R8. And these engines are not lent from Lambo, rather is the first V10 Gallardo a derived Audi V8.

Some people claim, the R8 itself, its V10, the V10 of the S6 (C6) and the bi-turbo of the RS6 (C6 too) are Lambo engines. Bullsh.

Gallardo's frame,body,V10, the direct injection (LP560-4),quality,finish etc is almost entirely Audi Know How. Of course the Lambo guys are professionals, but the V10 in all its versions is not a Lambo engine but an Audi kid. Lambo switched its owners like chicks do with their underwear. Since Audi owns Lambo the company is profitable and Audi respects Lambos culture.

Many BMW's might be a bit better when it comes to handling, but the Z4 in the meanwhile is as much a pussy car like the SLK with its metal roof BS.

And when it comes to dynamic performance, for instance on the Norschleife, which is reckoned the hardest track in the world, the A8 kills the 700, the TTS not even mentioning the TT RS kills the Z4 30 with its twinturbo charged 6cyl. In Europe, Audi already outperformed Merc/BMW in image and ales figures. One day you'll get it too :-))

LOL, OK, US short-cuts, FTW / FTL , one never stopps learning! Well, I just do not like metal roofs. Even cutting edge metal roofs spoil the capacity of your trunk when the car is topless like my EX. Furthermore, per average, it's 50% heavier and the centre of gravity is influenced negatively. High quality soft-tops can easily compare with metal roofs in terms of acustic and durability and they got style. Just some jerks with knifes might pose a problem or a higher insurance policy.

The engine will be the same 4.2L unit found under the hood of the RS4 sedan but some tinkering of its electronics and exhaust will see output rise to around 450hp (335kW) and 332lb-ft (450Nm) of torque in the RS5.

That's a very old info.

For one thing, that V10 started its life in Lamborghini Gallardo producing NA 510 - 530 HP. Then Audi took it, detuned it to make it cheaper to produce and the result was pathetic - 429 HP in S6 which was pointless since V8 makes 420.

WIth twin turbos, its performance is boosted from 429 to 580 HP in RS6, 600 HP in RS8.

The RS5 will have TwinTurbo V8 with performance boosted up to 500 HP.
