brian was incredible i wish i could have gone to his funeral to pay my respects. I dont think he realized how many people respected him and his music. I think after he got assaulted his drinking increased to the point of severity. We all loved u Brian and the boys of Sweet.
I love listening to this song when I'm driving down the road..,I'm a lady trucker.Have loved Sweet for many many years. Thanks for posting this..,Gawd Brian is so hot..,love the platforms..,they were ahead of their times for sure.I have to laugh..,I wonder where Kiss got the makeup and platform ideas from?????Rip Brian and Mick..,great talent lost too soon.We love you.Thank you clockwork.
Man, I dig Brian's strut just before he starts singing. This is one of my all time favorite Sweet songs. Such attitude! Such great sound. And they rocked it live! Thank you clockworklou!!!
One of the most underestimated bands ever. A lot of really good songs, highly skilled musicians and chorus that modern bands couldn't even dream about.
My first video I saw with my big heroes back in 1975. That was amazing. Never forgot the way Brian stepped back and forward between his singing. hat was a great gig in in my teenageroom
According to Mick Tucker in an interview it was banned on the BBC because of the line "For Gods Sake. I've never heard the reference to drugs before. Great song anyways.
Yes the BBC banned it for supposed drug references - I recall Tony Blackburn reviewing it on Rosko's Round Table and hating it, saying it was just a horrible noise - ha ha - which is what you could have said for his DJing!
Those boots are the best! They must have gone over alot. When platforms were the rage again in early nineties rock clubs us punters were always on the floor, and not necessarily due to Jack Daniels.
Ah yes, Sweet do indeed rule! Tell you something, that dude gets too many personalities he's not going to know who he is. Could be he's trying to work that out right now. He needs our support.
Bye bye pisspatch/oogaawala/Adam! Back to the thread, Sweet totally rock and Turn it Down is one of the best rock tunes from the seventies! There are some other great performances of this tune out there too.
Dude, you keep doing this, I reckon you would get very petulant if someone made a comment about your musical taste even once. At the very least Sweet are fun, don't see any fun in your videos!
The hardest SWEET 4ever!!! We love it 4ever !!! fg

This is such a great cut! They were all virtuosos of their instruments and those harmonies are the best ever in rock n roll.

Steve was a badass. He really knew how to handle that bass. I love his stance.

actually, Brian was a heavy drinker. That's what killed him. His drinking caused him to have repeated heart attacks.

Listen carefully and you won't hear (on 01:09) that line Steve sings; "...You said, hey man, you're on some kind of trip..."
Jadranko23 4 years ago
It was not banned because mentioning God only but because the whole lyrics and hidden meaning. Oh, 4 God's sake, those puritans were silly!
"So your old man went and called you a degenerate bum
And you stood there crackin' on your cinnamon gun ...
Just then that freak walked in the door
And knocked me to the floor
You said, hey man, you're on some kind of trip
He said, don't give me no lip"

TechMaven is right;still great footage though.
This was unheard of in 1974[both lyrics and music this loud] and boycotted by the bbc if i'm not mistaken.
Sweet forever!!
