His whole description of Star Wars is so clueless, it's obvious he doesn't know a thing about it.
Maybe this is from when the movie was just being released, or was about to be. Because by the end of 1977 even guys who look like Earl knew all about Star Wars because they had seen it multiple times.
D2R2 was always my favorite Star Wars character.

Earl Green had a bit part in an episode of the TV show "The Big Valley", back in the mid 60's

if you go to photohio(dot)org and search on Earl Green, you will see that he was a Channel 6 movie host in the 1950's.
