As mentioned, the iPad CAN connect with cable either with a MIDI adapter or the camera adapter. Also, you don't need a router, just create an ADHOC on your laptop and connect directly. I have yet to have a drop out or major latency running TouchOS on my iPad2, and yeah $50 makes it a lot less painful. Also, iPad has some great synths to boot.
And thanks for pointing out the difference to an Ipad. There is even more....
- actual Ipad editors (like Touch OSC) miss a lot of control objects and physics
- the speed of the Ipad connection is much to slow if it comes to complex 2 way communication (no problem in clip triggering, but my sequencer send 1000values for each pattern...)
Ipad is great, but never thought to be an instrument.
Have a look on my channel for more videos about lemur templates.
I've got to say, I wouldn't trust a toy like the iPad to run my live show. The Lemur is a solid piece of industry-oriented gear designed specifically for live audio performance. The price tag had me stunned until I came to this conclusion.
@Fagottron lol thats why they discontinued it and now its only on the ipad, it amazes me at how biased people can be, if you did some reseach you would realize the ipad is core midi compatible,
If I were to set up my songs as individual projects in Logic, can i control the guitar effects through this? One Logic file = one song with all effects. I'm thinking I could have one Lemur page per song, so it's easy to switch back and forth at a gig.

The Lemur kills the iPad for realtime communication, especially in a studio environment.
