  • Great movie made by geniuses

  • Who's the music by at 1:06? Is tat a model ship at 2:40? I know he really did all that with the ship. Its just that bit looks like a model. CAN't WAIT TO SEE THE FILM ON TNE BIG SCREEN IN CARDIFF SOON!!! :D

  • shitty movie made by junkies

  • Huerequeque still alive in Peru

  • super

  • If they could move a 320 ton steamship up a hill with what seemed like all this primitive technology then it just comes to show that all these conspiracies regarding humans not being able to build the pyramids or stonehenge are complete bullshit. Humans are perfectly capable of moving such objects over long distances.

  • @jhhwild Thats exactly what I tell my uncle when he askes how the pyramids where built with such massive stones. "they had massive whips"

  • Wtfamiwatching.jpg

  • Glen Hansard made a number of this movie :D

  • i will see this one day

  • now watch the making of 'Fitzcarraldo' ...Les Blanks' 'Burden of Dreams'

  • hihi gotta love klaus kinski he is nuts!

  • belleza de pelicula!!!!!!

  • I want to be Werner Herzog...if just for a day....

  • Tom and his Victrola @ 0:52!

  • you lunatics!!! that's a small ship the size of a motorboat going down that rapid!!!!!

the only person who mentioned it got spammed here! why? are you all dumb idiots?

  • Dude this is one of the most well documented disasters in the history of film making. It changed Hollywood forever. It became the example for an entire generation and I wrote a thesis on it... you are THE FUCKING IDIOT!

  • ok, I love looking back at posts I did a year ago. Especially to find only one or two posts since...

Well, it seriously looked like it wasn't real to me back then, now it still looks too crazy to be true, but I read the facts, so yeah, it's the real boat.

I accept my "Idiothood" nobly. Also, I was probably utterly wasted.

  • sos un boludo importante.

  • Lol

  • yup, Herzog really did drag that boat up that hill and through those rapids.

  • Fitzcarraldo is one of those movies with two conclusions; or your watch, understand and like it, or you watch it, don't get it and is like "hmmm, riiiiiiiiight"(A La Doctor Evil's quote).

In my opinion, its a very odd motion-picture. Quite a work from the director and a true thought's maker.

  • Eeeeyyy!!

  • I want to see this film so badly.

  • Klaus kinski is simply amazing here. AMAZING.

  • The shot at 2:42, was that a model or a real boat similar to the scene where the boat is carried over the hillside?

  • (excuse my english) is well known than that is actually a real ship, yep, herzog is insane as kinski, in is own way of course

  • ranwnye: Well it's hard to tell from the quality of the trailer.

  • This is a quote form the Wikipedia page.

"The film production was an incredible ordeal, and famously involved moving a 320-ton steamship over a hill without the use of special effects. Herzog believes that no one has ever performed a similar feat in history, and likely never will again, calling himself "Conquistador of the Useless".[4] Scenes were also shot onboard the ship while it crashed through rapids, injuring three of the six people involved in the filming."

What a great movie this is!

  • Thanks Wiki

  • @Raidmasterprod

i could swear it's a model. I know they brought this ship over that mountain, i knew Herzog and Kinski are crazy, and and and... but in this short scene it's a model.

  • grandioso

  • kinski=god^^

  • What does the is the film "Fitzcarraldo" about!?

  • It's about a man pulling a ship over a mountain.... ANYONE familiar with The Frames or Glen Hansard?? He wrote a great song about it.

  • Kinski, the greates actor!

  • One of the best movies ever. I love Herzog.

  • @wordtwister Amamzing crazy movie done in a time when movies were on a huge epic scale..today its all computers bullshit

  • Not sure, but i think it's "Ernani" by Giuseppe Verdi. Just a guess, i'm looking for it in mp3 myself :O

  • this is the esence of man

  • What a great movie. I named my own boat "Fitzcarraldo" because of it. ha!

Saludos.

  • si, desde ya.
