I wish that this Classic Film Score album was available in CD format. I searched Amazon.com and only found the album in vinyl availability. I owned the other famous RCA Charles Gerhardt film score albums from the 1970s; how I missed this one is quite accidental. This has become one of my favorite Max Steiner suites. And, thank you Bogart and Bergman (and Raines) for being unforgettable.

The other version of Ben-Hur was a silent one, which had a better sea battle, for instance (real ships not poor models).

I wouldn't have thought of Doctor Zhivago as American, but the finance clearly came from the States and Italy.

I just finished watching the movie and the documentary narrated by Lauren Bacall, Bogey's wife. Classic movie, with nothing offensive. It's rated PG for some mild violence and that's it. There's no language or gratuitous sex. "Here's looking at you, kid." Beautiful movie. Stands the test of time joining "Gone With The Wind," both versions of "Ben-Hur,"

"Doctor Zhivago" and many others as landmarks of American cinema.
