Ken Shamrock is only in it for the money. His heart hasn't been in fighting for many years already.

Having said that, what happened is he botched his own pre-fight blade job. The plan was to have the fight stopped early due to a cut and then raise a big stink about it so he could get another nice payday in the rematch (which he would have gladly lost, so long as the money was there).
