You guys did a great job! Thanks for posting this. If I read you right, you did this in 1973? I was ten, and a huge fan of Star Trek and the animated series too.
There is some great stuff in here. I love the theme on the organ and the SFX are actually pretty close to a lot of anime. It has a feel somewhere between Doctor Who & La Jetee.
This was a-mazing. When my best friend and I played "Star Trek", not more than a few years removed from this movie actually, I'm sure we looked and sounded almost exactly like you guys. Thank you SO MUCH for my awkward, pre-adolescent memories (not a snark, honest...this was beautiful). NERDS RULE!
I love the fact that this Trek adventure was made so long ago! It seems to me that it was made with a lot of love and respect for the Trek material. A fun blast from the past!
Wow, I remember seeing this back in those days, it was amazing you could make it so good with the available tools. GREAT JOB ! Glad to see it survived all these years. - Mark Hand
To steal from a popular quote: Ask and you shall receive! Thank's for all the great comments. I just uploaded another serious project, (as serious as we could be at 14), which was never completed, but is still good for a few laughs called 'The Perfect Hijack'.
Thirdly, but certainly not "lastly", everything I ever needed to know came from watching Classic Star Trek (TOS). Bravo, gentlemen! 1973 --- whatta year!
Mike, who is the brain behind this movie, is a talented musician, (keyboards, guitars, trumpet, & sax). He works a day job when he's not Rockin' & Rollin'. Thank's for the question!
hahahahahahhahahaha........ that was freaking sweet. Kirk wore glasses. Loved this home made vid. I would have been 5 when it was made. Great work...thanks for sharing.
LOL LOVED IT!!! Christ guys id hire you on the spot and fire that star trek hating J.J.Abrams. At least you guys know what to do without a low budget.
Today we have all this high tech video equipment, every thing from video cameras to editing software. Most likely better than what they had when Star Trek was made. Yet today people lack imagination. This video is really good.
Damn! These guys stole our idea... which we were never able to realize what with our 8mm soundless windup film camera in 1977... Made a few fly-by shots of the ships though. Good Job!!
These guys had the characters down pat! Kirk was right on target, with his judo flip, kicking of the phaser out of the Klingon's hand, even down to his handling of the communicator. As for the FX, great for 1973, but Im the guy who thinks that the original series FX are better in may ways from the rest of the spin offs. :-)
Yeah, well done for the 1970's!!! But boy, what a Klingon incident--how did you ever explain the destruction of it to Starfleet or the Klingon Empire?
You have to give these kids credit for this homemade film! Not an easy thing to do with just a 8mm camera and some cardboard! I think that it is very creative!
Thankyou for your comment. Though Vulcans shouldn't feel pain: After filming, I distinctly remember the sensation of Captain Kirk yanking off my pointed ears, which were attached with model airplane glue... Lend me your ear, indeed.
This is seriously cool....Well done guys.

This is so anti-prime directive. The klingon punches you on the planet...so let's condem the entire ship to death. - Just bugging....it was great!

Now...you need the "enhanced" version with CGI, etc! - Just kidding! Great work!

Those poor Klingons. They never had a chance. And really nice job of first aid at 5:05.
