  • Qajaq and kayak? Really ? Does it really make a difference?

  • Are the Inuit related to the Mongols, who do the Tuva throat singing? How did this practice spread, and why?:

  • great !!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG i have a song i know to play on da piano and this has the same tune!

  • Awesome!

  • I just love this! And also the modern way that Qimmiruluapi does it in another video - check it out! Is it this kind of singing described by antropologues as "song duells" to be used instead of having a fight?

    Anita

  • hi there! so how do I find it? whats the webpage? A singing duel?! must be seen!

    Thanks !

  • That's pretty amazing stuff!! Wow.

  • We realize that the proper term is Inuit rather than Eskimo. However, this video is aimed at worldwide audiences and most people do not know the term Inuit. The Inuit's counterparts in Alaska still use the term eskimo. We use eskimo just so many people around the world will find this video. Then our website disclaimer educates them on the Inuit term. If we use just Inuit, this culture will have a very limited audience. This is our final position on this issue. Clint, Free Spirit Gallery

  • @clintleung In Greenland, we really dont like to say Eskimo. Its our ansisters who were Eskimoes. Our country is called "Kalaallit Nunaat", means "country of kalaallit/humans" - Inuit. It make us proud to come from Eskimo people from Canada.

  • I remember that it was something similar on the Bjork's album (Medulla), wasn't it?

  • ya. she's inuit too, btw. she lives in Iceland though

  • Tanya Tagaq Gillis was the throat singer Bjork collaborated with. She's from Northern Canada and she's released a solo throat singing album.

  • Inuit is plural to an Inuk. Inuit, lotsa people, Inuk 1 person. And we do not say kayak, but qayaq. Wish u non Inuit can spell my Inuktitut properly. KAYAK my Inuk Ass. QAYAQ is how we spell it!!!!!

  • way to go smokerinnunavut ~~~

  • okay, I think I know how to spell it now lol. Thanks though. I did a paper on the Inuit people and it was very broad so learning things like this is nice.

  • this is so unique! i love it.

  • like a sqeeky toy

  • holy shit those ppl are small!

  • hahahahaha...that made my day.

  • thank you for posting throat singing!

  • we saw some thing like this in a movie

  • Why do Inuits look cute?

  • Cute. what are you white?

  • Wish there were more examples of this type of singing. Ive only seen it live once while living in Alaska.

  • There are two more videos of throat singing. If you can't find it here, they are accessible on my Free Spirit Gallery website you see at the end of this video -- look for the Info Articles/Videos link at the top.

  • I love that, unfortunately there are not many resources about the Kattajait Singing on the web. To me it´s like archaic techno...
