Actually, Spock and Sylar have a lot in common. They are both very controlled beings who seem to lack emotionality due to a ruthless logic. But in real they suffer agonies because in the eyes of one of their parents they are an utter disappointment. Vulcans in general are awesome characters because they seal a very violent and emotional nature under an extremely cold-blooded surface.

They couldn't have made a better choice for Spock than Quinto.
