To be frank I would go for Lexus because of the quality and the technology. Not saying BMW, Mercedes and Audi etc aren't good, I just feel it's less problemmatic when bringing it to services.

Lexus, along with all luxury car companies should incorporate the idea of woofer speakers in their cars so that buyers do not have to go aftermarket to upgrade their sound system. The woofer speakers can be turned on or off , up and down through the stock Navi system. There is no harm. And it should provide enough bass to satisfy the occupants. Stock!!! Woofer speakers can be small like that of Bose speaker technology. Now that along with quality sound from Mark Levinson will be ideal.

BMW 7 series is too ugly(Even the new 2009 7 series is SUPER ugly) and too unreliable, and so is Merc S class. S class looks more like Hyundai Sonata and has the durability of potato chip. And Audi....no one really cares. All Audis look the same, and reliability is not something I really need to mention.
Lexus has everything you can expect from a luxury sedan, reliability, sign of wealth, and all. It is a silent speed monster.
And seriously, if I were given a choice of all 4, I'd take the LS. The drive is number but I wouldn't be using a car like this around a track anyway. As long as I can get from point A to point B comfortably and use it for highway cruises/roadtrips comfortably, I'd be happy as that is exactly what I'd use such a car for.
Um I don't know why people bother to argue which is better. If you're going to buy one, you'd buy the one you want. That's all that matters. The A8's, LS, S class and 7 series all target the same general group of people but are individually different in some manners so that it can reach their specific target audience within that group of buyers. It's not like Lexus is incapable of making a sportier version, they're just not because Lexus buyers prefer luxury.
Exactly, at this price, people can afford to buy what they want for their own personal tastes and needs, not what people hear from others. If you want drivers appeal, it's probably a BMW, if you want an instantly recognisable sign of wealth and a reputation + heritage, it will be the Mercedes S-Class, if you prefer incognito or a sportier set-up, it's the A8, if you prefer the newbie, maybe the VW Phaeton. It's about brand loyalty too. Lexus LS is a great sweet car, they got it right this time.
There are many bias critiques against japanese luxury cars. All i know is the truth, that Lexus makes the best luxury cars and costs 10k less than its competing class. My friend's S-class Mercedes is always breaking down. Very unreliable and eats a lot of gas. His Lexus LS-460 on the other hand is wonderful and it don't break.

I know some guy who has one crappy BMW 7 series and it breaks down all the time and repair cost is ourtageous. So he has decided to justify himself by thinking that BMW 7 series is a car that is worth more than its actual price which is about 100k, and he apparently has spent more than 40 extra grand for fixing. He has driven the car only for a few times cuz it mainly stays at the dealership for fixing.

Um, Lexus is the brand here with ZERO HERITAGE that started out as gussied up Toyotas. Please don't call the European brands "shallow". They have everything a luxury brand needs: history, heritage, motorsport, innovation, global appeal, classic cars and god knows what else. Lexus has none of that. Luxury wise. The LS600h is $125,000. Where can you get a car this advanced for the same price tag? I drove the new 745i and wasn't impressed. Mercedes the same. It was way over engineered. The knob used for the nav and almost everything else in the 745i was not practical. Oh, and do you work on Lexus or any car for that matter Konig?

i tried their lexus600hl 3 days ago at the invitation of the dealer. With the 19" wheels, tuned suspension and active roll stabilizer it is darn close to the feeling of a merc. Still not as sporty but if you are not chauffering a politician targeted by terrorist there is no need for a merc s class. The only thing missing is a USEFUL trunk space.

If yor're refering to fuel economy, then I agree with you. But American cars aint all that bad; they are durable, comfortable, relatively cheap (compared with European & Asian rivals) and reasonable. The fact they're cheaper than European (etc) rivals aint make them inferior to them. The only problem (which I think is in the process of being fixed) is the fuel economy of these (U.S.) vehicles. During the fuel crises, demand for U.S. vehicles went down for this sole reason.

Lexus, along with all luxury car companies should incorporate the idea of woofer speakers in their cars so that buyers do not have to go aftermarket to upgrade their sound system. The woofer speakers can be turned on or off , up and down through the stock Navi system. There is no harm. And it should provide enough bass to satisfy the occupants. Stock!!! Woofer speakers can be small like that of Bose speaker technology. Now that along with quality sound from Mark Levinson will be ideal.

Lexus Ls is the Best, Luxury, Most Reliable, and High tech vehicle in the world. Go to Hell BMW, Mercedez, Audi, and other non Japanese Luxury cars. The reason Japanese Luxury cars are awesome because u dont have to worry about the car for getting repair most of the time. Especially Mercedes who is known to have a lot of problems in the car itself. I really regret it on buying that fking mercedes who tooks a lot of money from me, cuz of the repairments.

Actually Lexus LS' base price is more than 7 series if I'm correct. BMW 7 series is for those middle class or rich people who don't know damn about cars, well, basically BMW itself is.
Toyota did some investigation before they sell Lexus, and what they found out was that, the biggest flaw that the German cars had was "Reliability". Today, Lexus is recognized as the most reliable luxury car on the market, and German brands? For the badgewhores.

BMW 7 series is too ugly(Even the new 2009 7 series is SUPER ugly) and too unreliable, and so is Merc S class. S class looks more like Hyundai Sonata and has the durability of potato chip. And Audi....no one really cares. All Audis look the same, and reliability is not something I really need to mention.
Lexus has everything you can expect from a luxury sedan, reliability, sign of wealth, and all. It is a silent speed monster.

And seriously, if I were given a choice of all 4, I'd take the LS. The drive is number but I wouldn't be using a car like this around a track anyway. As long as I can get from point A to point B comfortably and use it for highway cruises/roadtrips comfortably, I'd be happy as that is exactly what I'd use such a car for.

Um I don't know why people bother to argue which is better. If you're going to buy one, you'd buy the one you want. That's all that matters. The A8's, LS, S class and 7 series all target the same general group of people but are individually different in some manners so that it can reach their specific target audience within that group of buyers. It's not like Lexus is incapable of making a sportier version, they're just not because Lexus buyers prefer luxury.

Exactly, at this price, people can afford to buy what they want for their own personal tastes and needs, not what people hear from others. If you want drivers appeal, it's probably a BMW, if you want an instantly recognisable sign of wealth and a reputation + heritage, it will be the Mercedes S-Class, if you prefer incognito or a sportier set-up, it's the A8, if you prefer the newbie, maybe the VW Phaeton. It's about brand loyalty too. Lexus LS is a great sweet car, they got it right this time.

There are many bias critiques against japanese luxury cars. All i know is the truth, that Lexus makes the best luxury cars and costs 10k less than its competing class. Technology, reliability, luxury, and performance is second to none. Lexus is beating Mercedes & BMW in many aspects and i dont think Americans like it very much. Heritage means nothing today when you build cars with just a name. You can waste your money on cars that have name but no game. Lexus is a smart buyers car.

Porsche guys themselves accused Nissan of cheating on the Nurburgring official record time. they said they bought a GT-R, and tested it themselves on Nurburg, and said it was 25 seconds slower than the official record timing Nissan told us. But then Nissan said, they did use a stock GT-R and tires, and said they are willing to give Porsche guys a driving lesson for their GT-R.

I know some guy who has one crappy BMW 7 series and it breaks down all the time and repair cost is ourtageous. So he has decided to justify himself by thinking that BMW 7 series is a car that is worth more than its actual price which is about 100k, and he apparently has spent more than 40 extra grand for fixing. He has driven the car only for a few times cuz it mainly stays at the dealership for fixing.

Um, Lexus is the brand here with ZERO HERITAGE that started out as gussied up Toyotas. Please don't call the European brands "shallow". They have everything a luxury brand needs: history, heritage, motorsport, innovation, global appeal, classic cars and god knows what else. Lexus has none of that. Maybe the name "Lexus" was a name chosen relatively overvight; but the technological innovations of what constitute the Lexus today was not an "overnight" one as Toyota has existed for a long time now. Truly, when compared with North American (and African) brands, the European brands are of lower specification. All the xteristics you mentioned (except classic) are typical of Lexus.

Luxury wise. The LS600h is $125,000. Where can you get a car this advanced for the same price tag? I drove the new 745i and wasn't impressed. Mercedes the same. It was way over engineered. The knob used for the nav and almost everything else in the 745i was not practical. Oh, and do you work on Lexus or any car for that matter Konig?

i tried their lexus600hl 3 days ago at the invitation of the dealer. With the 19" wheels, tuned suspension and active roll stabilizer it is darn close to the feeling of a merc. Still not as sporty but if you are not chauffering a politician targeted by terrorist there is no need for a merc s class. The only thing missing is a USEFUL trunk space.

of course, in the luxury market i believe audi and lexus still offer the best value for money. But most people who can truly afford luxury go for the the BEST car, not the best value for money. And sadly my dad didnt feel he can afford that luxury even though i think otherwise.

germans overpriced -> depends on how much u earn. If u earn $1mil a year you probably wont think twice abt paying $4000 for benz's ABC. if you earn $100000 a year you will probably think twice, and thus feel benz is overpriced.
I never say lexus is inferior is general performance, but spirited driving on it sucks while merc s class can let u have both comfort and excitement.

people you just dont get it, even if you buy the most expensive car in the world you will never get any better than a lexus or other japanese cars. Lexus is already the worlds best selling luxury cars. they hav to lower the price coz lexus is competing on the price market and to attract more customers to maximise their profits. thats y its MORE value for your money to buy a lexus coz you get more complete package. no you don't get it, i don't slag german cars down but you should stop going around Lexus pages + go talking shit about it. the fact is i don't find Merc much of luxury apart from the s-class. Audi cars in general are better than Merc cars thats a fact. I would go for the Audi over a Merc(horse), build quality and the way its design is better than the Merc. at the end of the day all cars are for transport its not like u r goin to use your saloon car to race with anyway.

True, the fastest car in the world is american, but it is a bad car. very uncomfortable, loud, unbearable and no prestige. the question is, why would an american build world's fastest car? Eurpoeans have the Autobahn, we have a highway limited to 75mph in the middle of the desert. we can't do crap with that car. lol

If yor're refering to fuel economy, then I agree with you. But American cars aint all that bad; they are durable, comfortable, relatively cheap (compared with European & Asian rivals) and reasonable. The fact they're cheaper than European (etc) rivals aint make them inferior to them. The only problem (which I think is in the process of being fixed) is the fuel economy of these (U.S.) vehicles. During the fuel crises, demand for U.S. vehicles went down for this sole reason.
