  • Icom 703 plus is a fantastic QRP radio i love mine and the receive is exceptional on this radio nice vid ;)

  • if your radio is set at 5 watt on cw you will get the full 5 watt peak but on ssb voice radio set at 5 watt your voice is probably only peaking 2/3 watts :-)

  • < 5W = QRP

Nevertheless, great contact! I also use an Icom 703 and during late evenings/night I turn it back down to 1W or even 0,5W. I also use the FD4 antenna.

I've made some great contacts with 1W or less. With 10W I worked VK6 last month.

  • @PsynceFiction Up to 10 watt ssb voice = Q.R.P Infact radio set at ten watts is probably only peaking 6 watts on voice peak and would probably only get the full ten watts if using cw and or a high pitch tone or whistle on ssb voice, i think people do not realise this, look at your external power meter on ssb voice and i reckon it will only peak around six watts from your voice unless you put a high pitch tone through which ofcourse your voice wont be yes you will put out ten watts on cw.
