The heart of the baby starts beating between the first 18 to 25 days after conception. If a human heart is deliberately stopped form beating, its called murder. Second, that argument is much improved over saying "let everyone decide if it is wrong". If a fetus is a person, then it is murder. The problem with that position, as you point out, is that the mother has rights too; however, this issue isn't nearly as clear cut as EITHER side makes it out to be. I think you are going to be hard pressed to say a poor life is better than no life at all, mostly because 98% of the world experiences poor lives.

Like it or not planned parenthood's main goal is providing health care for women. They actively promote the use of birth control, get that? That way the woman gets to control whether or not she gets pregnant in the first place. The fact is that proper birth control IS the prevention for abortions. If a woman does not have insurance the cost of birth control can be prohibitive, especially for the poorest women with the least amount of access to birth control. Be pro-life-pay for an IUD!

Fortunately in this country, we have freedom of speech and are each entiled to have our own beliefs. The statement that I was making is that all of those circumstances (war, medical issues, and death penalties) are all legally mandated ways in which humans make life or death decisions.

Make no mistakes, I am not pro-abortion, I appreciate the sanctity of life, I have three beautiful children that I chose to have. When my mother was pregnant she considered having an abortion but she chose to have me, I thank god she, I and all other women in this country have the choice to be pregnant or not. The sitaution was bad and the father was aweful so she made a choice that suited everyone best. She is now engaged and living a happy life. i was there. it was amazing that so many people came. miles of streets packed with people. why does the government have so many laws to protect the environment and animals, but not humans?
I have never been religious and for years thought of abortion as a "non issue" thrown out to cloud real issues.
But SCIENCE has made the strides in prenatal research that can enable anyone to see without a doubt abortion is the dismembering and torture of a human in the most grotesque form.
Furthermore, I have yet to meet a woman who was not mentally scarred by the process.
Please direct me to the science that has proven abortion is dismembering torture of a human being in the most grotesque form.. id love to read up on this..

Even though they had little food, they still have a chance of being happier adults. This is a terrible argument. Here is why. Are we going to leave it up to every individual to decide what is a person and what is not? If so, then any murder can use in their defense that they did not believe the human they killed was a person.
The whole "let the mother decide" already presupposes that the fetus is not a person. It is saying "let us just agree to disagree", which is always stupid because arguments always arise in agreement of disagreement, whether there or not.

First, I never made a pro-life argument.
Second, that argument is much improved over saying "let everyone decide if it is wrong". If a fetus is a person, then it is murder. The problem with that position, as you point out, is that the mother has rights too; however, this issue isn't nearly as clear cut as EITHER side makes it out to be. I think you are going to be hard pressed to say a poor life is better than no life at all, mostly because 98% of the world experiences poor lives.

Like it or not planned parenthood's main goal is providing health care for women. They actively promote the use of birth control, get that? That way the woman gets to control whether or not she gets pregnant in the first place. The fact is that proper birth control IS the prevention for abortions. If a woman does not have insurance the cost of birth control can be prohibitive, especially for the poorest women with the least amount of access to birth control. Be pro-life-pay for an IUD!

@Heralde8 I was not making a statement on whether war is justified. Quite frankly my opinion on war is not relevant to this discussion. Obviously some wars may be justified to some and not to others. Fortunately in this country, we have freedom of speech and are each entiled to have our own beliefs. The statement that I was making is that all of those circumstances (war, medical issues, and death penalties) are all legally mandated ways in which humans make life or death decisions.

Make no mistakes, I am not pro-abortion, I appreciate the sanctity of life, I have three beautiful children that I chose to have. When my mother was pregnant she considered having an abortion but she chose to have me, I thank god she, I and all other women in this country have the choice to be pregnant or not. To be forced into pregnancy is wrong, too.

The big picture is, abortion was made "legal" through the pillars of law that King Solomon set up about 3,000 years ago.

I have seen an abortion thank you. She had 2 abortions!!!!! She was quite aware of what she was doing. So stop being a helicopter parent and saying that a teen is incapable of making decisions. She knew that an abortion is a termination of a possible life. That's common sense, you don't need a pamphlet to know that. It is a choice considering there are other options. she made the best possible choice that was good for her. No one forced her. Stop making excuses for her.

As a psychologist I think I have a better understanding of the human mind than you do. If she was able to make this decision twice she obviously suffered very little guilt. I would imagine she would feel guilty after people like you bullying her about her decision over the years. A child changes your entire life and she wasn't mentally ready either time OBVIOUSLY so how can force someone to have a child against their will? See this is how I know you prolifers are full of it...Not everyone woman will experience "psychological damage". One of my closest friends had an abortion and let me tell you she loves children. The sitaution was bad and the father was aweful so she made a choice that suited everyone best. She is now engaged and living a happy life. She was 15 when she had that abortion so you can't assume that teenagers don't know what they're doing. You can't assume all women will suffer..

Even though they had little food, they still have a chance of being happier adults.
