i did this song many times in singing comps in the 60's with this tune and won, this guy is phenominal, but the uk are clutching at straws if they let him be our euro entry, he's too good to be humiliated in this competition, its not fair to use him, we lose each time cos we are the uk, simple as that, pull out hump, dont lower yourself to this now trashy comp, you ruled vegas and the uk radio, dont be remembered as a failure in the eurovision like all the others this past 20 yrs
@dnorfed Firstly, you lose because the rest of Europe has found out that the only reason why you scored so many points in the old days was that you were singing in English and the others were not allowed to. :) And secondly: because Eurovision is not so much a question of musical quality as of coincidence.
ah! my lovely nan used to listen to this in her front room on the gramaphone what lovely memories it brings back bless him - i really hope he wins the eurovision song contest how great would that be! he still looks good - and that person who left a comment saying he's not british he's more british than alf garnet! rock on engelbert!!!
GO HUMPS EUROVISION REALY NEEDS SOME EXTRA CHEESE THIS YEAR. On a serious note why not ? this is one for the senior citizens. I will support mr humperdinck whole heartedly. I hope he brings back the beauty of real song writing which has been lacking for so long in british entries and infact most other countrys ones too.

when I hear Englebert, it reminds me of my childhood.... My father played his records back in the early 70's....... As a child I wanted to marry him... He is the best singer of LOVE SONGS!!!
Excellent. I was raised back in the 1950s through the late 1960s on Elvis Presley,Dean Martin,Roy Orbison,Jerry Lee Lewis,Jackie Wilson,The Platters,Chuck Berry,Sam Cooke,Johnny Cash,Marty Robbins,Patsy Cline,Dusty Sprinfield,Petula Clark,Others,and later in the late 1960s Tom Jones,Engelbert Humperdinck,and Neil Diamond.
My Dad loves Engelbert Humperdinck... I am so glad I was able to take him to one of Engelbert's concert before he passed away. I will never forget the happiness and excitement in my Dad's face. Thanks for your music Engelbert, you are one the living legends.
@rsantosham An English-Indian marriage! What a fortunate combination for all of us who love Engelbert's voice and his handsome, expressive face! Who says, "Nothing good can come from India." LOL A Canadian retired Catholic priest!
What happened was Engelbert's Grandparent's were of mixed British-English and Indian decent when British Colonialists took Indian Women through Marriage and offspring Children.
@bykota12 Correct. He was born Arnold Dorsey, in India in 1936 (if memory serves). His dad was a British officer stationed there, and they left for the UK when he was 10.

@rocknrollgangster1 It's funny the influence of our parents music has on us. I grew up with easy listening music in the 60's and 70's: Herb Alpert, Engelbert, Tom Jones, Andy Williams, Dusty Springfield, Burt Bacharach, etc.. Although I did not care much for it then, I am addicted to the genre now. Specific songs trigger strong fond memories.
@Ray63301 Hehe...They are all in my playlist. I'm on a business trip to Mexico City and the playlist is with me! Here it is: Nancy Sinatra: You only live twice, Some velete morning, Summer wine Andy Williams: Can't get used to loving you Herb Alpert: Casino royale, Lonely bull, This guy's in love with you Glenn Cambell: Witchita Lineman Ray Charles & WIllie Nelson: Seven spanish angels Stan Getz: Take five, Girl from Ipanema Jon Barry: Midnight Cowboy This guy's in love you ........
I think we are of the same era. You've summed it up perfectly! The memories triggered watching these masters on youtube has had me ordering Herb Alpert, Andy Williams, Brazil 66 and Englebert CDs galore, esp. with the recent passing of my father who loved his easy listening...
@frknnutz Agreed. Luckily I had parents who played music throughout the house all day in the 60s and 70s. we stayed away from the TV and just listened as we did out stuff around the house.
Those were days indeed.
The glorious 60s. I need a time machine, so I can gop to Vegas and see all of the greatest performers who were not created by electronic 'enhancements'...
@frknnutz Same with me. Those Singers and Roy Orbison,Dean Martin,Marty Robbins,Nat King Cole,Patsy Cline,The Lettermen,Elvis Presley,The Platters,Gene Pitney,Bobby Vinton,Dionne Warwick,Neil Diamond,Paul Anka,All the 1950s Rock And Roll Pioneers. While back then I was into Elvis Presley,1950s Rock And Rock Pioneers,All the Pop,Rock,R&B,Soul,Dance Music Groups and Singers. You know the Singers I didn't like back then grew on me years later. What I thought wasn't cool back then I really love now.
This is an amazing song. Listen to EH. What a powerful voice. It doesn't crack or break. Especially, when he goes high, he can really take it to the limit. Bring back a lot of memories putting a quarter in the Juke Box for 3 plays back in the 60s and slow dancing to his music with the girl who became the love of my life.
I'm 49 and I like Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck they bring back memories of my mother she loved listening to both of them. IIlove you mom...............Miss you
45 anni fà suonavo questo stupendo brano con l'armonica a bocca, ora mi accontento di ascoltarlo, mi da la stessa emozione, e vero, la musica di qualità non tramonta mai. Grazie

@frknnutz Don't forget Percy Faith, Billy Vaughn, Henry Mancinia(?) just to mention a few. What great music.

45 anni fà suonavo questo stupendo brano con l'armonica a bocca, ora mi accontento di ascoltarlo, mi da la stessa emozione, e vero, la musica di qualità non tramonta mai. Grazie
