  • Must be stepford wives night out judging from the audience's reception

  • he did this act better than Sammy both good but Bobby was the first ,a real showman, and then some.

  • Bobby Darin was a large admirer of Sammy, Sammy had be doing the impression in his act from the moment he got back from the Army.

  • yep he was good - but a better singer than impressionist - what did he die from

  • What a talented man he was...one of very favorite singers from that era...i didn't know he was such a great impressionist...of course 'Mack the Knife' is one of the most unique, catchy tunes ever...plus...check out his rendition of 'If i were a carpenter'...very moving...he could blow you away with his vocal ability or take a song like that and interpret it perfectly...no frills..a straight to the heart performance...check it out....you'll see what i mean...he was one of a kind.one of the best.

  • I Love Bobby Darin!!! Thank You So Much for posting this !!!

  • Person for person this is Sammy's routine

  • Wow! He doesn't just do a person's voice and mannerisms (though he has those down perfectly). He changes his face to have a truly uncanny resemblance to the actors he impersonates. I noticed that he even changes the shape of his eyes for each person. Anyone who doesn't appreciate this hasn't seen much of the work of the actors he impersonates.

  • he's a pretty man

  • There was no end to this guys talent!

  • ? Was the Mitchum thing a reference to his drug charge? If not I don't get it.

  • Magical stuff. What a true star. Thanks for sharing

  • great

  • Shit this is awful....like the guy, but it sucks

  • he really didn't drink because of his heart problems and could not stand boozers.

  • WALDEN ROBERT CASSOTTO YOU ARE GREAT! take care....

  • Words are superfluous...

  • brilliant!

  • well said.....

  • Its impossible to do impressions today no one stands out as classic like the old days

  • Man, his Dean & Jerry impressions were amazing (especially Jerry singing - I never heard anyone impresonate Jerry Lewis singing before)!

  • Wow haha this guy is marvelous! Never knew who he was until now but he's damn good lol & funny

  • What a great talent this man was.

  • this man is amazing!!

  • I've been ignorant of the talent of this man. I barely knew of him as a singer and had no idea of his other abilities. Might be because I wasn't born 'til '63. I'm amazed and inspired to search for more. There seems to be a dearth of multi-faceted talent today, not that they don't exist, just that they seem scarce. Nearly anybody can be a celebrity....some for the wrong reasons/actions. The same internet that makes those people also provided me with the ability to view this gem.

  • @mtdewchallenger This is so exciting to me! In searching for more Bobby, you'll find a brilliant singer and performer and a hugely talented actor -- in both comedies and drama (he was nominated for an Oscar for "Captain Newman M.D.").

And I absolutely agree that there no longer is this kind of celebrity -- for the most part -- today. So sad. But, at least we do have the ability to discover more and more classic stars today! :-D

  • @mtdewchallenger you're right, they do not exist

  • Wow! Scary-talented!

  • Sammy did this act in 1957 at the stardust in LV..... I saw him do it in 1966.

  • he's so fine!

  • My heart broke a little when he (as Dean Martin) introduced his "ex-partner" Lewis. So glad they made up in the end!

  • @journeymanwriter Me too. I was NOT expecting the perfect Jerry impression, though.

  • Along with Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darin was the ultimate entertainer !

  • @grantgalea NONONONONOOO! It's Lady GaGa, the one you're doing the introspective on soon!

  • fantastic!! thank you for showing us another side of Bobby Darin :)

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS. I only had the CD version, non video version, before this.

    Classic!

  • Let's see, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, Dean Martin, Hitchcock, Robert Mitchum...how many people DID he do in this thing?!? Anyway, it's TOTALLY BRILLIANT. And you know I'm not even a fangirl of Bobby.

  • he sounds more like jimmy stewart than anyone

  • Thanks for this. I have Bobby doing the Stars Bar routine on CD--from his Vegas and Copa shows, but it's great to see him do it.

  • i'm a huge bobby darin fan. i'm also a huge sammy davis jr fan. so i gotta ask, who did this act first? becuz sammy does this almost the exact same way

  • @norgie0685

I'm not sure, I don't know too much about Sammy Davis Jr.

This particular act is from somewhere in 1960-62, I'm 99% certain of that! When did Sammy do his act?!

I do know that Bobby and Sammy both GREATLY admired each other! In fact, a telegram from Sammy is on the back of Bobby's album "That's All". AND, Sammy was once quoted saying that Bobby was "the only person I never wanted to follow".

WOW, this is a large reply! Haha!

If you find out who did it first, let me know! :-D

  • @ILoveRayMilland Sammy did "One For My Baby" impersonating singers..Darin did it as actors. They're both superb!

  • @ILoveRayMilland For a while, Bobby was Sammy's opening act, so they sort of borrowed from each other here and there. They don't discuss the impressions, but they do talk about that part of Bobby's career on his "This is Your Life" episode (on youtube, last I checked).

  • @norgie0685

Sammy and bobby on tour would have been better than the Rat Pack!

  • 8:10 sounded exactly like jer's fake laugh :p

  • The best. He left us way too soon. Thanks for sharing this amazing clip! :))

  • Great impressions! Another reason to love Bobby Darin. What a great and versatile performer. One of the all time greats, right up there with Dino, Frank and Sammy. The Curtain Falls too soon sometimes......

  • Love his Walter brennan and jimmy stewart!

  • i love this. i have it on a cd that i bought the other day

  • bobby darin was the king,he had it all and some, the like we,ll never see again.

  • Bobby Darin was soooooo talented.

  • Bobby Darin is amazing!

  • Never ceases to amaze me what he can do!

  • @liverpoolishgirl have you ever seen him play the piano????

  • @sohooded Yes - there is footage of him on piano (you know he played piano on the record of Splish Splash). Midnight Special, Johnny Carson March 73 show, and his last TV show on April 27 73. What a surprise!

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post this whole show in this quality! PLEASE!

  • He's so sexy. I love every voice he invokes. The man's both talented and beautiful.

I wish he were still here on this earth....we'd make adorable babies together! :)

  • haha this is fantastic!!

  • @silentsandtalkies My favorite is Clark Gable!
