  • Proud to be a Fraser!!!

  • now this is what i call a pipeband

  • Near the beginning you can hear the Toronto Police Pipe Band play their medley. It's a wonder it didin't mess them up. These guys play really well!

  • This is one of my favorite sets of all times. Even the way they march off is awesome!

  • Very nice I piping

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the strathspeys?

    Thanks in advance!

  • The Strathspey is Miss Lily.

  • Listen to the drones at the beginning! Spotless!

  • I met the bass drummer at the world's in 06 he is f-ing huge !!! Good guy though !!

  • oops sorry i read the discription... nvm dont answer my most recent comment

  • wat place did they come in this year? anyone know?

  • 1st i believe

  • 1:27

Did he take out his handphone to call Drew Duthart and set the tempo?!

He took out something, held it to his ear, than put it back in his sporran. Am I going nuts?

  • A metronome to set the tempo. Some PM do that.

  • now I feel completely stupid. 've never noticed Bill Livingstone doing that before..

  • I love you comment!!!! Made my day!

  • how many pipers did they play that day?

  • I wouldn't necessarily call that medley safe. It certainly isn't anti-establishment like tp, but it isn't exactly shotts and dykehead or sfu, either.

I would call that a wonderfully constructed medley of very tasteful music, some original, some more traditional, played by an excellent band with fantastic sound, ensemble and energy. Overall, simply a fantastic presentation of the pipe band idiom.

  • Didn't they have to submit two medleys? Maybe this just happend to be the one that they drew

  • no, they pick what medely they want to play

  • most judges at solo events just let you pick if you have to sumbit 2 or 3

  • I think it is drawn at the same time as your position in the heats for the day.

  • pen65quin you obviously don't know anything about pipe bands, 78th Frasers are probably one of the most inventive bands in the world - I hope you're not comparing them to Toronto Police and that joke of a medley.

  • What are you talking about Toronto Police's medley being a joke. It may be different but its certainly not a joke.

  • TP's medley is a joke! If they play that at the worlds (that's if they qualify of course) the judges will laugh them off the park!

  • that msg is to shapo812

  • thats not true. some judges will like it and some will appreciate what they are doing. but regardless they playing in the rules and the most the judges can do is grade them unfairly

  • You go onto the beer tent and say that and YOU'LL be the joke as well as TP

  • Sweet

  • another safe medley..nothing special stands out.

  • its innovative because they could take a hip-hop tune like the dizzle and make it into a pipe tune, but what toronto played....o man was that different, just wish the saners played a little more traditional, but still thought it was awesome

  • ThereIs OnlyOneStuart: The tune at the end is written by Bill Livingstone, called John Cairns' Double

  • WOW.. that is one high pitch!!!!

  • The judges in Scotland reacted the same way to the Fraser's medley in 1985 as you just did to Toronto's. Ried Maxwell said " that if the contest was based on the crowds applause they would have won that contest". I think the same can be said for Toronto at Georgetown.

  • I guess if it ain't broke ....

  • I love how Bill Livingstone is so small he has to wave to stop the band - and the only person who doesn't notice is his Pipe Sergeant!

  • LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE this medley

  • Can anyone tell me what the final tune is called? Is it published anywhere?

  • Personally, the Michael Grey composition at the end is a much more musically engaging tune than anything Toronto played.

  • And yet the entire Toronto suite composition is also by Michael Grey who can be seen in the Pipe Sargeant's position in the video of Toronto Police....

  • Now although that's now a year old medley, it never tires. Absolutely superb. Would someone please tell Toronto Police that this is what innovative is, not like the pile of shite that played at the same competition!!!

Look forward to hearing you at the Worlds

  • Completely agree with you!

  • Ya that's as innovative as the first 100 bands I've listened too this year.

  • Cock!

  • Love this medley. It never gets old.

  • they know no better!! sheesht like

  • new drums look nice

  • If Anybody finds the Durham Regional Police grade 3 or 4 band here in georgetown 2008 on youtube PLEASE MSG ME.

  • I love The Dizzle!!!
