I am wataching this movie for the first time as I write this... I had to get my laptop out and comment on "he's making violent love to me" how in the name of Kathy Lee Giffrord did that slip past the sensors, and why didn't her mother react to that statement?
does anyone really know who's singing? there's no such thing as Arthur Black and His Orchestra. He's the assistant something or other for the movie. Velvet tone was real, though. I'm going crazy trying to find it.
@marshmellowmeltedass A full cast list is at the Internet Movie Data base. You are right, Black is listed, Second Unit Director or Assistant Director Arthur S. Black Jr. .... assistant director (as Arthur S. Black). A list related to the music dept, but no mention of singers or that song, yet, which apparently was about 100 years old and in the public domain. There is a blog for the song title that gives some history to 1844. I'll keep looking.
@RushLimborg from what I've read online, from some book on It's A Wonderful Life, the term "making love" was more like flirting or courting. Maybe it was the same when the movie was made because after the twenties, the movies had to get a whole lot more strict with their censoring.
making love meant flirting back in the day - not what it means now
