  • good set up mate. good to see a real man train. your little muscle man wanted to jump in too :-)

  • Where have you been man no more videos?

  • his son was trying so hard to get his attention lol. i cant wait to have my own kids when im bout 27 or sumthin

  • Great lifting and Big L playing in the background = Sweet!

  • good job. what are you benching?

  • i lol'd when your son was walking by when u started to squat and then u looked at him

  • haha, you're kids great randy!

what was the outcome of your routine? i'm looking for something new, i think my core's strong enough to start dl'ing

  • wer you happy with your results from this? I'm thinking of doing a routine just like this

  • Real controlled and slow... Thats what builds strength and builds muscle!

  • I'd appreciate any tips on training when your young. My little brothers 14 and is wanting to start out.

  • I thought box squats had to do with the placement of the feet, not sitting on an actual "box." Is this for your knees? I am still too fat to really do squats and I really worry about my knees.

  • your kids is awesome haha

  • Na I'm sorry man this seems like a pretty good workout

  • Ah tool show!

  • awesome job as usual man

  • nice man, your kid is looking buff just needs to work a little on the rear delts and, bam Mr. Olympia

  • oh and thanks for showing those side views.

  • @twinturboedm3

No problem...I have had a few people ask to see a side view of my deadlifts, so that is why I did that.

  • how often do you do regular squats instead of box squats?

  • @twinturboedm3

I don't really do regular squats (i.e. to parallel). I mostly do box squats to a 14 inch box and sometimes I do ATG's. Box squating took my ATG squat from 405 lbs to 455 lbs last year. So, I see no real reason to do regular squats. My goal is to hit 500 lbs on the ATG within the next 6 months. We'll see how it goes...

  • Haha man, your kid is so cute. I couldn't have held my concentration. Great job bro.

  • @jiggaluv123

Yeah, you get used to them being around while you train. Otherwise, you would never be able to get your workout in. He's good though...

    Thanks for the comment.

  • @BRETZERR Let him train to, how younger you begin with training how stronger you ever get.

  • @BRETZERR Be careful though. Kids and weight don't mix. Accident will always happen say once every 10000 reps.

  • I bet you can't wait till your son is old enough to start lifting weights with you. I have about ten more years before mine start.

  • @brianlugen

Yeah, that will be fun to train with him. I already train my daughters. They both were heavily involved with gymnastics and are brutally strong for their ages.

  • Your kids are awesome.

  • @xjusticex2013x

    Thanks. Much appreciated.

  • Nice job man. Is the little one gonna be strong like his dad.

  • @goatkiller68

Ha, ha...I hope so, but you never know right? Time will tell...his sisters are already extremely strong. My 7 year old holds the house record with 19 pullups...ha, ha...

  • looked like all warm up sets for brah :p Hows the bench going?

  • @ARMFlGHT

Thanks D. Yeah, those were relatively light sets (supposed to be ~58 percent of future 1-rep max). The volume was challenging though...

Bench is okay for now. I hit a new PR on the cambered bar (370 lbs) a couple of weeks back, so I am slowly getting stronger. My focus at the moment is lifting heaavy on the inclines...I want to get a new PR there with 370 lbs...we'll see in the next week or two.

  • HAven't stopped by in a while but you've put on some mass brosef! How much?

  • @freejumptraining

Yeah, most of that came over the spring and summer. I went from around 210-215 lbs to 225-230 lbs. Although, 230 lbs felt WAY to heavy for me, so I have tried to pull it back a bit. Lately I have been around 225 lbs.

The addition of squats and deads on a consistent basis, along with some protein shakes are the main reason for the weight gains.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • U R incredibly sexy. Mrs. Bretzerr is a very lucky lady! :- )

  • @bibearfan

Thanks - I will let her know how lucky she is...ha, ha...

  • Nice work Randy! Haha your kid was always getting in the middle of your sets, and even watched you lift, he even looks like you already! I bet you looked like him when you were his age haha

  • @IncredibleHulkRobert

Ha, ha...yeah, he is a little "mini me." Thanks man.

  • good workout bro! haha ur kid is such a cutie.. funny hitting the weights on ur deadlift.. how are you gonna go up with this workout? like whats next?

  • @PowerlifterTy16

First 4 weeks is high volume (6 to 8 worksets each for squat and deads). Weights will go up a few percentage points each week, from 58 to 64 (335 on squat & 410 on dead) for sets of 5 reps. The same weights are used for both workouts that week.

Weeks 5 to 8 are strength building. Volume drops off and weights go up. End goal is a 635 lb dead and 520 box squat.

  • niec work Randy, i have been working a new program myself and it paying off!

  • @409man

Nice to hear from you! Glad to hear your new program is working well for you...any vid's coming soon of that program?

  • Good stuff Randy! Your son was hilarious! Especially when he was cracking the weights while your deadlifting...too much haha...great!

  • @HHH396

Ha, ha..thanks Mark. Yeah, that was right after I told him "don't touch the weights." Ha, ha...he had to go...touch...touch...touch. He's a bit of a card.

  • Love the choice of music bro :D

  • @Salamandria23

    Ha, ha...yeah, it's a classic.

  • Great job bro! What made you decide to start some higher volume stuff?

  • @djsm028

Well, it fits well with the fact that I am running track and playing basketball at the moment. I felt like I was losing strength and it was becoming harder and harder to go heavy. So, this will be a good, low intensity, way to build up some strength going into the Christmas months so that I can try some more maxes while I am off from those other things.

Plus it is a good change. 4 weeks of high volume and then I will start going heavy again...

    Thanks for the comment.

  • nice work mate. always enjoy your videos

  • @plantera07

Thanks bro - very much appreciated.

  • never took you for a father =P

  • @muzimuzi

    Yep - 3 crazy kids....

  • You have great focus, and a very cute little boy.

  • @lauratbird

Ha, ha...yeah, you need to be able to focus to accomplish anything with young kids around...ha, ha...

Thanks...I love how he went strolling by with a purple tricycle...ha, ha...that was great!

  • Great work Randy! What are the big squat/deadlift goals?

Cute little fella, how old is he? I have a 3 1/2 year old boy.

  • @jplift

Thanks JP. 635 lbs for the deadlift (550 lbs off the deficit) and 520 lbs for the box squat. I am not using straps this time around for deadlifting, so I have to get used to the mixed grip. I find it a bit awkward at the moment, as it feels like my one shoulder is out of position and I feel like I need to use more legs with that style of grip.

Either way, this routine will give me a lot of reps to get used to it.

The little man is 2. Two daughters as well (11 & 7).

  • Strong lifting BRETZERR.

  • @cford77

    Thanks C...just light weights here...

  • is this a variation of the 3x3 programm, that what you used for calculating your projected max?

  • @Demian602

You could say that...I picked a projected max that I wanted to go after and made a spreadsheet to calculate everything out for me for all the weeks. We will see how it works...
