Part 1/3: "Some things they say happen in LDS Temples is just beyond ridiculous." And WHY do they seem ridiculous? It is not that throat slitting, vivisection, pulling out tongues, avenging the blood of the prophets, chest evisceration, and disembowelments, were never ‘represented’ (they were not ‘carried out,’ but were referenced as possible penalties for revealing the secrets of the temple) as a part of the temple ceremony.
Part 2/3: They absolutely WERE, and I speak first hand about this (two of these six were eliminated before I attended the temple for the first time in 1980) because I attended the temple from 1980-1996 on about 400 occasions. The reason these claims seem ridiculous is that the fresh batch of Mormons attending the temple for the first time, post 1990, would have no way of knowing these things happen because they’re not allowed to discuss them outside of the temple.
Part 3/3: The only way they could get clarification about this would be to talk to someone INSIDE the walls who attended the temple BEFORE 1990. I’m not certain this has happened many (if any) times at all. However, all of us who HAVE been there prior to 1990 know the truth about the ceremony prior to its sanitation.
I-AM-A-ROBOT! I-RECITE-MY-LINES-AND-MORMON-MISSIONARY-TALKING-POINTS-SO-WELL! religion is dumb. period. humans are smart enough to not rely on it. EVOLVE!!!! :D
The bottom line, where in the Bible or Book of Mormon do we fine these temple rituals? they must be all over since the LDS put most thier faith in the "church" and the temples. To me it look like Mormonism teachs good people how to stay bussy and not seek Jesus. Jesus is the only way we are saved and if we are TRYING to DO things to earn this salvation then we take our eyes off the truth in Jesus!
@pauchara Really? I am guessing you are talking about 1 Corinthians 15:29, first read it in context read the whole capter not just one verse. Paul used this example from the pagans in 1 Cor. 15:29, when he said, "...if the dead are not raised, then why are THEY baptized for the dead?" Paul did not say WE. This is significant because the Christian church was not practicing baptism for the dead, but the pagans were.
Baptism for the dead is mentioned in 1 Cor. 15:29, "Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?" it is the practice of baptizing a living person on behalf of a dead person. Though 1 Cor. 15:29 mentions this concept, is not saying that True Christians baptize the dead. He is speaking of the context of physical resurrection and he asks if it is not true, then why are "they" baptized for them, not "we."
Can you show any temple in the Old Testament that sealed people to become gods? No the temple was for sacrifice for sin. Not for marriage. I challenge you to read Hebrews and see what it says about temple sacrifice and temple marriage. There is only one high priest CHRIST
The best film--well, the only film, I think--that I have seen about Mormon missionaries is "Latter Days." It is well worth watching, and it can be rented from Netflix. If you want to buy it, you can find it at Deep Discount DVD, Amazon and TLA video, all on-line.
To follow up being baptized is an outwardly example of what happens inside if you accept Jesus as your savior. It is not a requirement though, the theif on the cross is just one example of someone who was not baptized yet was in paradise that very day with Jesus. Hebrews 9:27-28,And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
None of that is biblical. There are no 2nd chances after death. Jhn 3:5-7 says,"Jesus answered,“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ Born of water is how everyone is born into the world, thru the breaking of the water sack. Then if you accept Jesus you're born of the spirit.
Great video. I am taking a Religions in America course this semester and I always like stumbling upon videos like this where the answers come straight from the source of the people following that faith.
