I recently purchased an Artic White Fender Telecaster and I love it! I feel like I left a Volkswagen and went into a Cadillac. Very sweet! What more do I need to say? I highly recommend this guitar. I started playing in 1975 and until now, never owned a Telecaster. I should have pushed long ago for this Gem! If you love guitar playing, ...

I actually disagree with Characterwise from this Fender to a Gibson. If you get a gibson with P90's or P-94's, they have as much character as a Fender has.
I'm kinda like an alt-metal guitarist. I want to play these textural subtle parts (so I need a nice ringing clean tone) along with the really heavy metal tone (thick ballsy dirty tone). My influences are Steph Carpenter (Deftones), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead)... Which guitar should I get, Tele or Strat? I've already settled on humbuckers but I'm afraid I'll lose that Fender tone that I love... Should I go dual humbuckers or just single?
Both will do the job, A strat is a little more versatile, and will to the gainy bits perhaps a little better.
In my opinion, single coils are better than humbuckers. They deliver greater cleans, and once you know how to use them, they'll scream metal! the only problem is the hum
@5oulPower you could always go for an ibanez rg model because some have a single coil and 2 humbuckers so you get both and depending on where you look you can get a decent one for about £300 (im not sure what that is in dollars if your american)
My Thinline is not as silent when unplugged as my bandmate's generic Strat, but nowhere near as loud as my acoustic guitars. This is my secret weapon against plugged-in failure of the amplification chain. Actually, I researched and bought the Thinline due to the weight issue: I have much less chance of dropping (will-I-nill-I) a semi-hollow electric than a heavy solid slab of wood.
hey marty, every one... I like both, so help me... Between a tele thinline and a semi hollow body like an epi dor, a riviera, a casino, etc... which sounds better? I like to play more than anything blues. I libe both fender, gibson, epiphone... So my questin is, in your opinion, what axe to buy? a tele thinline or a semi hollow?
@hungerstriker27 ive played both and theyre both really great! id go to a guitar store try a thinline tele and an epiphone sheraton. i think those are the two best in the price range
OK - couple O' questions... Why does Fender call this "thinline" AND are the Japanese Fenders are reputable as everyone says? I like a neck that is not very thick, so I look for a neck that is thinner, with standard width! Great review, thanks!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there are plenty of OTHER brands of guitars that are under $500!!! the sounds can all be played on a good effect pedal and that guitar there is the UGLIEST one ever made!
I have several guitars, one of them a much more expensive 2-3x this guitar. I love the simplicity of this guitar & the feel of it. The quality is also there.
@HalflifeDream Hi I man i bought a used Telecaster mexican thinline 72 reissue....like this one but with two hambuckers...I still cannot believe how good it sounds! And if it's not enough good for your ears hang it on the wall and it will be good for your eyes! :)
I've been to Buffalo Bros. in Carlsbad Ca., it's the sickest guitar store on the west coast. They are the best used guitar store ever. Screw Guitarcenter...
What do you think of that guitar for a begginer? Im thinking about Squier Thinline Tele, this one the dude is playing or last resource----> Standard Stratocaster HSS
Made in MX and have been for several years, The original ones are US and expensive. I'd like to get one with humbuckers but not going to pay $900 for a MX. Just buy a MX one hold it play it then resell it 10 years later... very little value. Save your $ and get a US guitar so you will get more $ at resell. I had a new 93 Gibson LP and had it for 10 years, When sold, I made 600 over from what I paid. The truth - American guitars will have better vale at sell, Ask a pawn shop owner. Mexico - NO
There are some Factory Special Runs of American Thinlines, but you can basically only get them from Japanese websites which don't export to the US. There are also CS Thinlines, but they're expensive as hell.
man im not sure if there are but ive got a mexican thinline 72 reissue with the humbuckers in it and it is one the the best sounding and greatest playing guitars ive ever picked up.
I have to agree with zyesa. I just bought a Mexican 72 thinline reissue a few weeks ago and it is an incredible guitar. Sure, it won't hold its value like an American Fender, but if that doesn't bother you it is a solid choice. The humbuckers are amazing and the neck is smooth as butter. I haven't even touched my strat since I got the tele.
I presume it is, cause the hollow portion of the body is just on the top left corner (where the F hole is). Moreover, 72's have a "normal" bridge instead of the one you see here... so, you can drill the rear part of the body and install it. But pleeease... NO floyd rose! ;)
I'd been looking at possible guitar ideas for far future. Preferrably semi-hollow to allow for more sustain -- I like to play heavy metal, and it makes sense that a hollow or semi-hollow would allow for more sustain and feedback which could be compensated if run through the right distortion and amp. Does a tele thinline has a noticeable amount of sustain over a solid body, compared to other semi-hollows?
@clehneis Yeah, it's not, trust me, she has even more of a molestache as this guy (This guy who probably plays way better than you could manage, not that I know that, just sayin his wiener is probably bigger than yours, and definitely bigger than mine, and unfortunately I learned that the same way I learned 69'ing his mom is not better... Ugh, what a dirty 3 day acid bender that was.)
It really depends on what you play. A 69 thinline has single coils, which makes it great for punk rock or blues or country, and it can even be used for hardcore. I use it for that, and so do bands like Emarosa. A 72 has two humbuckers, which makes it better for thicker, Les Paul style sounds. That is better for heavier music or music with more high gain.
Try them both out and see which one you like best.
I just bought an epiphone goth explorer for $400 and it sounds amazing but it depends on what you play I only use it for heavy metal and anything else I'll use my strat or les paul
That "Epiphone" logo writen on it basically tells you that it was built out of the states, in a lower quality environment with cheaper resources, materials, and labor.
Don't get me wrong, Epiphones can still be nice. They still play well (although you should put some Gibson LP 'Buckers in it). But they're still no Gibson. But it helps newer and less wealthy players get their style and mimic tone for a fraction of the price.
If you ever took a basic electronics class in any schooling you've had, know how to follow directions, can be mindful and careful, and trust yourself; you can buy any pickups and do it yourself. It's not a hard process.
Cheers for that Marty, Reason I was Hooked on that model Gretsch was the different tones and sounds I got out of it, but I loved that Country Tone that you got out of that Tele. Will give the tele a try and see how I go. Have you played the Stump-o-Matic at all Mate? Thanks again Marty.
