  • I found wish you were here on the side of the road, picked it up of course i was 17 but when i played it i hated it at first (didn't know them then) i biffed it away in anger and delusion not knowing what i had done, about 45min later i thought 'hang on there was something to that shit' i played it again and slowly but surely it dawned on me this was magical and still remains my fav pink floyd album(along with the song 'coming back to life')(division bell album)

  • I love... noo more

  • learned the lead guitar part to this today. a seriously epic song. Gilmour is a genius :D my favourite version is from David Gilmour: Live in Gdansk, its a great before bedtime song :D

  • Beautiful music. Takes talent to write and perform with such passion. I used to take a smoke and I don't think I ever listened to Pink Floyd when I was stoned. I discovered Floyd before grass ( the only drug I took). I stopped smoking it for good a few years ago and have started to listen to Pink Floyd again.

  • great videos.

  • MUSICA

  • Does Floyd not just blow u away> I was right into floyd as a teenager and everytime even now when i hear the tunes i get tingles going up my spins. And also i can assure u floyd didnt infuence me to do drugs. I mean i smoke spliffs but i was doing so before i got into floyd. Never done acid or cocaine or herion so i think the comment about it influencec drug missuse is way off the mark. This Band is legenday and will live on way past the members who created it.

  • Loveeeee all PF songs, and drug free;)))) rsrsrsrssrrs

  • Karanatrv.... Pink Floyd does not influence you to do drugs you poor mis-informed fool... Pink Floyd made their music sad because they felt like it. They put their emotion into it. It may have been the same even without their acid. Shine On was written for Syd Barrett who had a mental breakdown... It was not the acid that forced this mental breakdown but it did exempt it prematurely. Acid rarely makes people go insane and if it does they have a history of mental instability and would be destined

  • for mental breakdowns in their future. Pink Floyd was a revolutionary Band who inspired many people and captured their emotions which is why they're so popular... engaging sadness in your life is something you cannot run away from, and thus everyone can relate to it. Pink Floyd Brings out this sadness but in such a way that it is like releasing it... after listening to this song or wish you were here I feel much better about loving a girl I only wish I knew better.

  • You really must stop being so susceptible to arguments and just think about what you say before you point out brummagem facts...

  • " i know many ppl who got influenced by PF to take up drugs... "

Wow, really?! Thats odd, I came through it fine, so did a lot of friends of mine, most all of them in fact. Perhaps you and your friends were already prone to some dark casm of depression and suicidal thinking regardless of pink floyd.. ever think of that?

I know one thing, a psychiatrist might have a few questions and pills for you after seeing your post.

  • superbe

  • The guitar at 3:50 is my absolute favorite part of this song.

  • un Viaggio Onirico...GRANDISSIMI...

  • I rue the day i first listened to a pink floyd song. They fucked my life.

  • how?

  • First u find it wierdly enchanting.... then u some how start linking the bizzare imagery and melancholic poems in their videos to ur life... it plunges u into a state whr u r sad... but u want to get sad... sadder.. n sadder.... i know many ppl who got influenced by PF to take up drugs...

  • karanatrv: WTF?? you know some lame people if they blame pink floyd for their initiation into drugs. lmfao. This music has always been enlightening and refreshing. I would think for most, the drugs came first!!

  • live in ur own false world.... its much happier than reality..... but still if u want to fuck ur life.... go listen to the lyrics of comfortably numb CAREFULLY.... read why shine on you was written.... war misery songs like vera.. gunners dream.. mother..... pink floyds music is the most hallucinating and enchanting painting of an abstract feeling called "sadness"

  • Karanatrv - listen sweetheart, at your age of a mature 24 don't tell me the effects of pink floyd. I have been listening to them and they had been playing for 20 years when you were still shitting in diapers - if you don't like their music and it is so sad, go away and stfup.. There must be a new song you need to hear from britney spears. Check with your doc about getting some prozac or something for that depression problem.

  • heheheh and u at ur sweet 49 are like that senile brooding and whining widowed nanny living in the dark basement cursing the young ppl around jus for being young.... looser.... as far as pink floyd is concerned.. the fact that u dont recognize the melancholy of their music ( which as acknowledged by pink floyd themselves as the most profound aspect of their renditions.. ) is a proof that u r a shallow unintelligent wannabe.

  • yes ..a lot of their music is about sadness/loss but not all of it!!!!

people can relate to these feelings of sadness/loss/alienation.....that is probably why Pink Floyd were sucsessful

but more likely because They were amazing musicians and the greatest craftsmen of soundscapes .......have you heard ECHOES? A Saucerful Of Secrets? Atom Heart Mother............? their music without words was powerful enough.......Careful with that Axe Eugene!!!!

  • It would be easier to apriciate that if it woulb be the whole of the song not cut that bad

  • They're real intellectual musicians inspite of all those weeds, mushroom, & acids; can't help to wonder maybe drugs had help them reach the higher plane of their existence to collaborate those classical rock music; too bad Syd could take only that much & drugs overpowered him!!!

  • RIP Rick....RIP Sid....Shine on you crazy diamonds

  • rick come back!!L.I.P in stead live in peace!!

  • That keyboard...

There will be no one like him

Thanks for the music, Rick, thanks for everything

    Goodbye

  • RIP Rick.

  • all the dead corpses hear this every time anybody ever plays it

  • i know, that's why i said dead corpses, 'dead corpses' just seemed more pleasing in the sentence to me at the time than just plain 'corpses', try applying your critical streak to something that matters, or maybe you just being playful, in which case, ha ha up yours saddo

  • LOL

  • got the dvd of this i watch it all the time! the lights are fantastic a proper trip all the way through. fav song in the world. i get goose bumps just listening to it :D

  • Why do they always leave out the minute long guitar solo before the vocals first kick in? that is a ripping solo on the album that i've never been able to hear live

  • Find an old bootleg from the 70s, my friend, you will find what you seek

  • Somehow this song sucks up all the sounds in and outside the room in the beginning - then transfers the reality as on some meditative journey in a alternate dream like world - which goes well with the clip on the screen.

  • i think its simply the best song ever perfomed

  • Remember when you were young, at the start of this song

  • lol what do you say to this? fuck a comment it wont matter. i give up.

  • Don't ask the question them if you can't understand. That's why you probably can't play a note! Atleast you can appreciate exceptional contemporary rock music.

    ****good luck~ buenos tardes

  • first off dumbass, look at my music page by clicking my name, that proves i can at least play a note, and secondly my comment meant that this is AWESOME like the most amazing concert song ive EVER heard... whats your problem asswipe

  • Please accept my apology. They too, left me speechless.

  • its ok just a misunderstanding

  • brilliant

  • I believe that David's version from The Royal Albert Hall in 2006 betters this version... but not by much!

  • Best cut of this song ever recorded. Hard to believe Floyd could out do themselves! Bravo

  • Fantastic. Just perfect.
