I broke down and purchased this application the other day, and I'm really glad I did. Very polished and useful app. We took a drive into Seattle and the lane assist function was great. Some things that I'm hoping for in future updates: text-to-speech for street names, more details for physical landmarks (lakes, etc.), an easier way to look up POI's, and traffic integration. However, you can't go wrong with this app.
ive used most of the nav apps for the iphone and this i the best one hands down, the tomtom app is the worst Slow and not accurate gmaps was ok but not as good as this copilot is a pain To use just because the input keyboard how do u not have a qwerty keyboard for text entry? i just hope when tomtom puts out there external gps that this program will work with it
Thats a great app and all, but in the 10 mins that this video played it killed ur battery 5% that strikes me as shitty since if i am trying to get somewhere its prbly not in my area meaning its prbly going to be 20 to 30 mins away, therefore thats 10 15% of your battery raped. I am not sayin that its the app's fault just saying its a general issue that i am having with my 3gs and i really hope apple can fix it.
yes, try playing the sims 3! oh geez, I have a 3Gs and i went from 100-35% in like 15 mins of playing! Apple should have fixed that with the 3Gs, I had a 3G and I haven't noticed a longer battery life.
10 Min demo - without 3G enabled - battery went from 77% to 72% - this is such an impractical device - you always need to be connected to a power source to do even the basic things - using a power draining GPS application makes the iPhone even more impractical.

Yes it has. But ALL other GPS Apps have disabled this feature within their App. NAVIGON was the first GPS App to not only incorporate playing music from your library, but to use the double tap as well. That's why we thought it was important to show that in the review.
Dood... You said you dont have a great GPS service in your basement... Just so you know, you will never get your GPS reception if your iPhone is in Airplane mode. Even if your WiFi is on. It kills your reception on phone/gps/bluetooth. If you wanna test your GPS reception go out, put your phone in non-airplane mode, and pop your SIM out.
Great REVIEW. I love this app too, I go to jobs in different locations a few times a week, and this app never fails. Many, MANY advantages over G-map; but one feature G-map has over all the other navigation apps is the ability to do a search....not specifically for a POI; just a general search.

with the GMap you need your 3G to show the map but with this the map its already loaded and the GPS just track the map no data need it

How can you accurately review a gps app in your basement instead of in your car and then by driving the route? This was not very helpful.

Nice App. I plunked down my $69 and bought it. Took it for a ride and was very well impressed. It is better that the dedicated Magellan Nice review.

You do need the iPhone 3G, because the 2G iPhone doesn't have GPS. Sorry mate :(
